(506) And now.... Back to our regularly scheduled program

Day 5,506, 15:10 Published in USA USA by Trekker Tlumac

Greeting all 506ers and all the wonderful chunks of man meat, tutu poodles, and lovely lasses!

It’s been a day. Or week. Or month. Or year. Or pandemic. Or whatever.

Sigh.

More sigh.

Ehh….

Yeah, so as you may have noticed… The 506th recently had a couple of facelifts. In fact there was a very dramatic facelift last month due entirely (well, sort of) to a clerical error, someone completely unqualified to field the message that is the 506, ended up in a position they should not have been. They promptly made an ass of themselves, and us, and it was not a good look for anyone.

It is what it is. Make whatever jokes are needed. It happened, it has been corrected, and I am here, as the Party President of The 506th to rectify the unfortunate series of events that have happened. As you can already see, the party has been restored to pre-takeover name and stats. And now that I am actively paying attention again, it will not be changing again.

These things happen in eRep. So it is now another part of history.

Well now I would like to give thanks. A lot of people reached out to me (personally) to offer help and words of encouragement after it was noted that objected to the involuntary rebranding of the party. It warms the cockles of my heart to know that after all this time, and my relative inactivity, that I still have friends and allies in this game. I want you all that reached out (especially you who offered to party hop if needed) to know that I really appreciate it.

I am glad that, despite the dwindling size of our game community, that there is still good will to spread around for the connections made.

That sappy ass niceness is one of the reasons I don’t think I will ever completely quit this game. Too many of you have been too nice for too long for me to not warmly reminisce.

What’s next?

You know, that is a really good question. And, to be honest, I don’t really know. My only major plan was to regain the party and right it. And I accomplished that. Next on my agenda is less clear. We are no longer really in striking distance of T5, nor do I think that is an important goal currently. Right now I intend on focusing on the community that we do have, and seeing if there is anything left to cultivate. I’ll probably also try to start introducing my irl friends to the game again. Maybe now they won’t get flagged as mutli’s.

(Yeah that one really still irritates me that all three of the people I brought into the game at the beginning of last year got banned for being multi’s when they weren’t and two of them stayed banned. Not exactly easy to explain to a buddy that he got banned from a toxic minority and that most people aren’t actually that bad, when he’s only been in the game for a couple weeks, and hasn’t seen enough to know why he should stay. We, as a community, as a whole, need to do better. Or we need to give up and let the game die, because that is all the toxicity does, accelerate that end. End rant there.)

I don’t know, maybe if we all actually sold the game on one or two people we actually know IRL, the community in general would probably be a lot healthier.

Also… If anyone wants a genuine conversation on the social health of the game… Drop me a line. We need to expand our community, whether through strengthening the bond between us already here or bringing more fresh blood.

Yes I know that gets touted around all the time, but honestly I don’t personally see a ton of sustained effort to that end. Am I offering a solution? Not really, but I want to talk about it. Maybe talking about it is enough to spark an idea or two.

Welp, thanks for reading. If anyone needs anything, reach out. I’ll be around. Probably logging in at least once a day, maybe more if I have messages to respond to.

Normally here I’d launch into my canned lines about The 506th and EZC as a plug for the party and MU, as well as the links to both discord servers. Not today. But I am leaving up the links that will bring you to the Wikis about the real life 506th and Easy Company. Because history is important, lest we forget those who have passed before us.

So… if you are at all interested in the real-life namesakes of the party and the MU, I encourage you to read up about the 506 Infantry Regiment and its legendary E Company. To get you started, I have included the wiki links to both below.
