Thunder Below, Water Above

SUMMARY

“Thunder below and water above” refers to...

Difficulties.
Successful creativity.
Beginnings.
Mastering one’s internal nature.
Firmness and flexibility.

Knowledge is born whenever ignorance acts. As soon as thoughts arise, we all start chasing after our own stupidity. It’s natural. Wisdom and insight come from observing the fact that our thoughts tend to be scatter-brained, without any definition or discipline.

Heaven creates confusion. There’s no point in presuming there will ever be peace.

ANALYSIS

Six steps for leaders to organize themselves out of difficulties...

One. Going into the road in order to find our way home. Get organized. Stop the mind from wandering. Don’t just roll along. Serve the people.

Two. Valuing the e-lowly the most. The e-world cannot be saved by force. Win hearts by being a master of communication. Abandon the grungy work of “actual achievements”.

Three. Seeing what is subtle and eschewing meaningless activity. It is better to give up than to chase un-catchable prey into the bush. Find e-teachers who really know.

Four. Mounted on your e-horse, staying perfectly still. Refrain from enmity and e-marriage. Stay centered and grounded for a long while. Don’t rush into bad relationships. Seek good alliances.

Five. Realizing that there is no such thing as individual success. Seeking to become an e-giant who is right all the time will lead to a bad outcome. The best outcomes are small ones.

Six. Mounted on your e-horse, standing still, weeping tears of blood. With a bad internal attitude, even peak experiences will bring confusion and calamity.

COMMENTARY

There is none.

JUDGMENT

Difficulties arise when we mistake subjectivity for objectivity, when we take the barred imaginary of the Real (which is to say, the symbolic order) for actual e-reality, when we mistake our genuine, always fragmented and not-quite-complete but honest and true desires for the petit objet à (that is, the wee but genuine objects of our affection) for some kind of (illusory) mandate from a Big Other.

Avoid squatting in the nihilist nest of un-knowing. Don’t be suckered into abiding in a narcotic realm of tranquility either. Once grand and noisy thoughts are quieted, that’s when the real productivity begins.

Yours in peace, love and e-friendship,
