This is Just a Game
Monsieur Manchukuo
I know that's obvious. I know that, you know that. It's a game, through and through, as clear as day. How could I have to remind anyone of that? Most likely, I don't. I'm not here to make you look like an idiot by reminding you. I've done plenty of that to myself, actually, in other ways. But the problem is, I don't care whether I'm idiotic or Einstein. Here, I can be whatever I want to be (within moral and societal limits even I respect), without consequence, because this is a game.
There are consequences, yes. Ones set in place by people who love this game immensely, and others that are fully imposed by the true game administrators. I can't hold either at fault. If you love something, it's hard to see anything happen to it without getting serious. If you created something, it's obvious you don't want someone to change it. Those are valid concerns that affect the player outside of the screen more than the reality of the game, when it should concern the game more than the player.
I'm not here to tell anyone what to think, or why you should think it. Opinions vary, to the point of argument. We call people liars, and cheaters, and so many other words. And here, there is no real world consequence. Sure, they might decide not to speak to you in-game again. But that's fine. You've never met them in reality - And chances are, you never will.
I'm not one to put emotion over all else. Emotions are grossly silly when overblown. Nevertheless, emotions are a part of human life, and behind every computer screen is another sack of skin and water who is also going through their own chemical reactions. Words, despite being letters on screens, do sometimes cause emotional discharge. Nothing serious, usually. Just a bit of a sinking feeling in the chest. It goes away, soon. But even so, it isn't a nice feeling.
I'm not asking you to be nice to everyone here. That's absolutely ridiculous. Obviously you're going to argue with someone, for varying reasons at varying times. Sometimes, just for the sake of arguing! Some people just were not meant to get along. All I'm asking is that you remember, this is just a game. There are no actual "heroes" here, and certainly not any real "villains." They are only that way here because you chose to see them that way, for whatever reason you have. Your reasoning is not invalid. But sometimes, we can get a bit carried a way in vitriol.
Now that the presidential elections are over, I hope some of that virtual hatred can simmer down and we can work together just a little bit more. Even if we hate each other! 😃
With Love,
M&M

I almost completely agree with you on every point but one.
It is possible that there are real "villains" here. It is possible that a RL bad person could use this game to carry out his/her RL intentions to do harm. That's always possible.
But I COMPLETELY agree that within the confines of this game, all bets are off. The game does not belong to any one of us, it belongs to ALL of us. And all of us should be encouraged to make of it whatever they can.
Three cheers to you for writing this.
Ah, I didn't think of that. Thanks for adding this. It's true a person could do so, but that would require a lot of information being given out, I imagine. Either way, it's indeed true.

Unity! We are all Americans. Well most of us. 😀
Gamer solidarity is international or it is nothing.
No group IRF has complete solidarity. And I want peace for EVERYONE. Besides, complete solidarity is boring.
