Do you know about The Gleiwitz incident?
It was German attack on a German radio station in Gleiwitz (Polish: Gliwice), made on Thursday, August 31, 1939 at. 20.00, used immediately by the German media as a main evidence of Polish provocations. Berlin Radio reported on several other alleged insurgents attacks, that were supported by the regular troops of the Polish Army, equipped with heavy weapons. In this way, the Nazi propaganda already at August 31. 22.30 blamed Poland of starting a war, and the Third Reich presented as a victim of Polish aggression. For Hitler, this incident was alibi to start The Second World War.

Nie ma takiego czegoś jak "Gleiwitz" po angielsku... Gliwice nazywają się Gliwice i tak się je powinno pisać, nawet w anglojęzycznych tekstach, gdyż to miasto nie ma swojego odpowiednika w jęz. ang. Podobnie jak Zabrze. Gleiwitz jest natomiast w 100% niemiecką nazwą, która dalej może być używana. Podobnie jest z Miśnią. Po niemiecku nazwa tego miasta to Meßien, podobnie jak po angielsku - Meissen (w angielskim alfabecie brak ß, które jest równoważne "ss"). Pozdrawiam, obersturmbannfuerer Grammar Nazi 🙂 A co do tematu, masz mój głos za tego arta 😃
bazowałem na artykule który podałem w linku, artykule na wikipedi i przeglądałem kilka innym stron, wszędzie pojawiała się nazwa Glewitz. Były to oczywiście strony po angielsku, gdyż niemieckim nie władam. Niemnij jednak, wciąż mogę się mylić. dzięki za informacje o/ i vota. 😃

Pewnie chodzi o to, że Gliwice przed wojną nazywały się Gliewitz i te artykuły sugerują, że całe wydarzenie miało miejsce w niemieckim Gleiwitz, a nie w polskich Gliwicach 🙂 Ale mniejsza o to. Jak przeczytałem swój komentarz raz jeszcze to stwierdziłem, że nie jestem godzien podpisywać się "Grammar Nazi" ;p
