Senate Election - Furniture Edition.
Dread Pirate Hobbits
For those penchant for psephology, here's my take on the senate election.
Voter turnout was great, up to 84 votes, or 19% of the population.
I believe the one disqualified candidate/voter resulted in a lost quota for eAustralia as a whole due to the peculiar electoral system. Giving us 39 potential seats rather than 40. We filled 35.
Here's the tables for this month and last month pushed together:
The RSU gained 2 quotas, and the APP gained 1, but they lacked the candidates to convert them to extra seats.
The ADP gained one seat, taking it to 9.
The ARP held steady at 18 votes after its gain last month. But due to the extra overall votes, they fell just short of a quota and lost their 9th seat.
The biggest story is obviously the Knighthawks dropping from first to last place, losing 2 seats (but 4 possible quotas). I believe this was a simple matter of member participation, as I'll go into after the break.
Party Breakdown Table - Not a literal one like when Tony got upset after the tables were turned on him. But rather in a statistical sense.
Candidates and active voters as a percentage of each party's membership:
ADP: 31 members,10 candidates(32
😵, 20 votes(65
😵
APP: 21 members, 6 candidates(29
😵, 18 votes(86
😵
ARP: 19 members, 9 candidates(47
😵, 18 votes(95
😵
RSU: 18 members, 6 candidates(33
😵, 16 votes(89
😵
KMC: 21 members, 6 candidates(29
😵, 12 votes(57
😵
The ARP had the greatest percentage of candidates, almost half of their registered members, and the greatest voter turnout, with only 1 member missing the ballot.
The KMC fared worst on both counts, with just under 1/3 nominating (equal with APP) and just over 1/2 voting.
Of course new members rolling into parties does play into the result. Some horse trading that went on in the last term:
ADP:
-Two imported MEKkers, A. Yupanqui from eArgentina and Thedillpickl from the eUSA. The poKEMon takeover continues.
-Soldie would have been the youngest Senator at just a week old of they weren't disqualified by the electoral commission.
APP:
-Stojke89, a one time eKiwi.
-Sweet Cersei, who is a long time listener, but first time caller.
RSU:
-Caesar II returned to the RSU after making an unsuccessful bid for an ADP seat last term.
-Rusty D and Kattrrina returned from their short trip to eIran.
-Kattrina left for eIran an APP member, and came back RSU. What happens in Tehran stays in Tehran.
-T.A.X.S.I.R.A fully stopped in from eCanada.
-Southern Crux returned to the Southern Hemisphere.
And lastly, condolences to Cody Caine of the ARP and Kangaroo69 of the ADP who lost their seats. As they're respectively commander and secondary commander of the ADF, they will still be busy serving eAustralia, and as serial politicos I'm sure they will be back to serve another term of hard laboriousness.

Exhaustive!
Oh and it was nice to see that after a slow start for KHMC still saw Lany taking a seat in congress \o/
Now all we need is for senators to utilise their voice in the forums discussions
I shouted on facebook and raised SC from the dead, maybe more.
Lany gets a throne not a seat 😉

Welcome. I am pretty stoked.
Good stats/info!
Well done!
Nice.
Interesting stuff!! I id'nt even come to think of a profile being a freaking week old to make it to the sente. Glad someones eyes saw it.
That was the first of two accounts to "jump" into the ADP and be banned over the last week. The other was a resurrected account wanting to come back and be active :/
Hi I'm that one member XD
That didn't vote? Lol, you know if you voted for yourself you would have gotten in. A heartfelt reminder that every vote counts. Still, the ARP participation rate is impressive.
"The ARP had the greatest percentage of candidates, almost half of their registered members, and the greatest voter turnout, with only 1 member missing the ballot."
No I voted, I meant I'm the one guy who didn't get in 😛 I was making fun of myself.
Ah. Well Kangaroo69 didn't get in either. So the ADF command can console each other.
Good to know what went on even though I don't recognize most of the names.
Since my name was mentioned I'd say something. I left the US several years ago, my MU and I pulled up stakes and moved to Switzerland. Too long of a story to retell. After about a year we relocated to Canada. Had some pretty good times there. Then things went sour. Also my MU mates started leaving the game. So I thought it would be fun to go home. Like the man said "You can't go home again.". The US is boring as hell now.
About MEK. I've got friends from many countries and MUs. I resisted picking one of each for 2 reasons. 1. I'm lazy. 2. Had too many good choices. Blame FreeGigi, I finally was talked into joining MEK which I have a looooong relationship with since my Canadian CP days. Recently I picked Australia instead of 2 other choices. There was no really compelling reason other than MEK seems to think this is a good spot. 😃
Sounds like you've had quite the adventure. I too recently replied to the MEKoning call. It seems to be an ADP thing.
This is half CP article 🙂
Or prompting activity and letting the masses know what the general go is?
Or maybe whole article. :/ Seems I've been recruited.
