How to hail a friend and ally!

Hail brother in arms from the times of ATLANTIS!
That's what you do in this game with friends. You hail them. And you swear on the pantheon of every religion you'll stick by them for good and for worse. Because they stood by you. Countless times. Since the times of Lion King and Hello Kitty. Brothers in arms, friends forever. Right? Wrong. That only works when you're winning.
But after a while, something changes. You start losing, the alliance doesn't work as promised. You still hail the other but you looking for alternate solutions in secret. So you walk away. First neutral. The government gets a backlash from the population. "We'll never betray our allies. No one gets left behind. Friendship over bonuses". But, of course, the others are to blame also. They didn't help, they became selfish, they are also to blame. Well, it's a mixed blame. At first.
Six months later, the blame is solely on the one you used to hail. You forget about friendship, about commitment, about Hello Kitty, Lion King. Ancient history, who remembers that? That's for old fags, we didn't even play then. So you start hailing your new friends. You appreciate their help. You hit for them and forget your old hails.
And one day, you wake up, open your computer, open erepublik, and you see your DO: Fight for Serbia in Central Croatia. Now go help your new friends.

I am member of the biggest unit in eCroatia and we never had DO against Romania. Of course, this may change soon I am afraid..because when someone continuously hits you, you will eventually start to hit back

Do not get me wrong but since I started playing eRepublik I did not see this functional "brotherhood" and please do not blame me for having different beliefs than you.Whilst eCroatia went for "curry" we were still in Europe with no bonuses .

Despite many opinions, this is not an article about Croatia.It's about us and our willingness to let go easily to things we fought so hard to achieve. It's rather rhetorical, as costel_t pointed out. 🙂

RL situation:
When you wish to apply for citizenship of Japan you have to fill in a form and answer certain questions.

I never dealed dmg against Cro. Even though i have Serbian Cs, i can help the allies in other battles, but not in a direct fight against old brothers.
When a friendship doesn't work, this needs to be fixed. First we talk and we try to understand eachother. When the disscutions fail, it needs to get measurements. We are no longer friends, but this doesn't mean that we are enemies.

am participat la multe batalii alaturi de Croatia.. am si injurat atunci cind am asteptat ajutorul lor si nu a venit.. m-am si bucurat atunci cind l-am primit dar viata nu este liniara. de un singur punct am tinut si tin cont: interesele tarii mele:ROMANIA. istoria nu se judeca dupa prietenii ci dupa rezultate.cinismul este o parte a vietii, mai bine sa-l constati decit sa-ti fie aplicat
e play a war game so I think all comes to:
1) your eCountry's glory
2) your MU's glory
3) your personal glory in this hierachy
For 1 and 2 players are not responsible
for 1 the responsabilty is on each president and Mofa/Mod. They set the CO the alliance system. The MU are subordinate to nr 1 pleople.
3 Your personal glory can be achieved by a number of achievements that depends from player to player. Some try to keep the friendship over the game achievements, some hunts battle medals, some hunts gold through various methods, some hunts cute decorations, some hunts notoriety (by any means)...etc
