[POTEUS] End of the Line

Day 5,427, 21:04 Published in USA USA by Paul Proteus

Hello eCitizens,

I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve. That's not true, I love all of you. Anyway I wanted to let you know: I am not running for reëlection.

Don't worry though, we will still finish this month strong.

All Things Must Pass

Thank you eUSA for your faith and trust. Being your president again was an honor. I involved myself in the game in a way I haven't for years. Battle hero medals, even. I also got a quick crash course in telegram and in all the ways the eUS has changed. I've met interesting people, and worked with people who I have just an infinite amount of respect for. And we did some cool things together. I think the eAmerican Community Service was enlightening, we've been largely successful as allies even as Asteria has gone through some transitions, and our community has only become more vibrant and dynamic as we enter the fall.

In other words... I hope it was as good for you as it was for me.

Me to the eUS community following 3 terms as President

And if there's one takeaway for me, after three months of Presidenting, it's that the eUSA community is something that is still worth fighting for. And worth protecting.

We talk about apathy, and that certainly exists. I wish more people wanted to be President, and I wish we demanded more engagement. I wish that a single one of my Directors of Fun would have stuck around.

Still, there is a level of care and engagement that make this game fun. There's Voots and Patanok and Kody, the engine that the eUS foreign policy currently runs on. And there's Thee Dude, constantly on top of battle orders and keeping the eUS aware of what's going on on the national feed. But there are also people like Arrden continually working to make sure our interior programs make sense, even when Congress would rather argue endlessly. And there are people like Henry William French who are still around to give Presidents constructive criticism, without which we'd truly know the game is dead. And people like Cthulhu. and PQ who are still willing in 2022 to give the WHPR the care it deserves.

And finally, every time I wrote an article and included a silly contest or a game, people showed up. It meant a lot to me, so thank you.

This is another thing I learned as CP. Truly thank you Plato

So in conclusion, I will be supporting TheeDude for President next month. I hope he has some of the energy that I have been losing. And I hope all of you continue to make this community special. And hey, maybe one day we'll have a competitive election again. Next year in Jerusalem.

Yours,
In life, in death,
Paul Proteus
