Today I am going to look at the issue we are currently caught up in with our neighbor Norway and looking long term into the future of the Swedish - Norwegian relationship, Norwegian Politics and the war. I would like to clarify that despite me being a member of the Swedish Government as well as Flashback Sweden’s leadership, opinions expressed in the article are my own and as far as I know, not shared by anyone else.

Background to the Swedish - Norwegian Conflict

Currently, our neighbors in Norway are under Chilean control as one of their Military Units decided to start a revolution in Norway and grab power. Due to the lack of Norwegian players as well as what I assume is a lack of state money for combat orders, the battle was fairly one sided and Norway quickly become a Dictatorship under Quantum Carlos. The new dictator isn’t big fish but additionally neither a non factor as he is on control of a strong Military Unit and what is likely a lot of funding as well as connections with eRepublik country Chile. Recently Norway was able to sign MPP😒 with Chile, Bulgaria and Macedonia, showing signs of what is unlikely a temporary occupation to just take currency, gold and then leaving. Norwegian Invasion of Sweden

As some of you might be aware, the Chileans have decided to invade Sweden with what I assume is an objective of claiming bonus regions in addition to the ones they are already in possession of, this is another sign of the Dictatorship isn’t just a “hit and run” but something intended to be permanent. This creates issues from Sweden as we are both unaware of the plans of the real Norwegians and their strategies to regain control over their nations as well as the threat it poses to Sweden as a nation. Thankfully, we have signed a NAP with our southern neighbors in Denmark and Germany, meaning we are able to fully focus on the threat from Norway and not engage in a two front conflict. If so there is a high risk that Sweden will be forced to fight against the full military might of some of the most powerful nations in eRepublik, a battle we are going to lose. Additionally troubling is the fact that those nations are not involved in any specific conflicts themselves although via MPP the battles in France as well as Iran are of importance in a global perspective.

Imminent battle for military initiative

Looking at the upcoming war one point is going to play a significant importance for Sweden and Norway/Chile, the ability to decide when the battle starts, simply due to the timezone difference between the countries as it’s likely it will provide a high advantages. Norway/Chile will be starting with the initiative due to them declaring war first and in addition they will have the benefit of Natural Enemy as the Swedish Congress is unable to create a Natural Enemy vote on Norway due to infamous troll Armbeno creating a troll NE vote on Swedish ally Greece. Despite this, if Sweden is able to win the first battle, which is possible as Norway will lose quite a few of their MPP😒 as they are shared between Sweden and Norway, Sweden will be able to set the schedule for battles and gain another advantage.



Coincidence or not, the Norwegian flag shares the same color scheme as the Chilean, resulting in a simple transition for national teams in sports.


Future of Norwegian Politics

As I started the article with, it’s likely that this influx of Chilean players in Norway is far from something short-term and as it looks it’s expected that their numbers will grow as their Dictator is given more citizenships to pass out to the rest of his Military Unit members. This creates a problematic situation in Swede as well as other neighboring countries as Norway change from neutral to becoming hostile towards Sweden, Finland as well as Russia. I will discuss the possibilities of wiping Norway off the map further on, however this does not solve the situation with a growing number of Chilean with Norwegian citizenship. If I was a Norwegian decision maker, I would argue for a Democratic Dictatorship similar to that which is in place in the United States here in eRepublik, the elected Presidents becomes the Dictator while Congress (the legitimate members) handles the decision making with forum or Ingame PM votes. Military occupation, although an alternative, will lead to further decline within the Norwegian community and is likely to mean the death to a pure Norwegian community, although a Union exists as a possibly with Sweden (or Finland although the language might become a barrier) it will result in a major loss of influence for Norwegians due to the difference in citizens.



The idyllic relationship between Norway and Sweden, considered similar to a warm summer night, is about to change, how this will influence the Swedish teenagers working with the Norwegian Fish Industry is still uncertain.


Future of Sweden and Swedish - Norwegian Relation

From a Swedish perspective, we profit from the majority of the different situations that we could be facing, currently we will engage in war with Norway as the Chilean Dictator have placed us as his natural enemy. Although I harbored hope that Finland and/or Russia would decide to help with wiping Norway off the map, Finland is likely busy with their never ending conflict with Estonia and are possibly waiting for more information on what the “new” Norwegian military power looks like. Russia on the other hand had a Natural Enemy vote up a few days ago but decided not to invade, if the intention from our great neighbor in the East remains the same or if they would like to engage remains a mystery, currently they are not involved in any conflicts.

In addition, Sweden would benefit from looking into the possibilities of building a relation with the new Chilean/Norwegian community, they are likely interested in gaining more resources and one which Sweden currently holds is Fish which is easily something we could give up (as we have more than one region with Fish). If it turns out that our New Norwegian Overlords are backed by Chile, it will become an impossible fight for Sweden as the difference in military is massive, striking a deal could and should be considered in order to protect Swedish sovereignty. Engaging in a never ending training war between our two nations could additionally become a possibility as it will increase the tax revenue of both countries due to the increase of True Patriot as well as Resistance Hero medals.

Regardless, the situation in Norway and how it unfolds should be followed with interest not only from our Scandinavian neighbors but additionally from an alliance perspective. If the current Chilean Dictator is backed by Chile, Bulgaria and Macedonia, it will risk creating a powerhouse nation able to influence and create chaos in the North European Political and Military Sphere.
