[BE] Military Module part 1

Day 1,435, 09:57 Published in Belgium Netherlands by Ministry of eBe Education

The Military Module concerns everything related to battles and war. It strongly depends on the Economical Module as money is the sinew of war.

Fighters and Damages

Any citizen can fight if he enters in a battle and clicks on the fighting button. There are as much fighters as eRepublik citizens. But all fighters are not equal for several reasons:

1: Two skills (strength and rank) affect the damage done.
2: Fighting costs money. While richest citizens can do thousands of hits each day, new players can do only 20-30 hits a day if they do not own any company.

Full size

The military power of a country is usually strongly dependant of the amount of citizens living in the country. However, some very rich and powerful citizens are making more damage than some small countries like eBelgium. So individual power is also very important.

Training

As already stated, there are two different skills important for a fighter.

The damage formula for one hit is:

I = ((R-1)/20 + 0.3) × ((S/10)+40) (1 + FirePower/100)

I: Influence on the hit
R: Value of the Rank
S: Strength

The rank value is 10% of the damage done and evolves through 63 levels.

Strength evolves daily with the training. Training is done through 4 buildings (1 is free the 3 others cost BEF to build):

Strength training can be done once a day for every building. While the first one is free, the other ones cost gold and are very expensive (up to 2.47 gold/day) and only rich/strong people can afford the whole training.

Armies

Usually aggregated through Military Units, armies are groups of fighters following the same orders. For instance, the Belgian Armed Forces are the eBelgian national forces and they follow the orders of the Ministry of Defence.

While some armies are supported by a government, some are privates and managed in private interests. Some armies join fights only if they get paid for it, as mercenaries.

On a smaller scale, individuals can also act as mercenaries and sell their damage by different means, among which the #Mercenaries channel on IRC. However, being a mercenary requires to be able to do high damages and usually only top 10000 fighters have the sufficient skill to ask for supplies.

Due to the fact that they are organized and managed by active leaders, armies tend to be very efficient and raids can happen to make a lot of damage at a precise hour, while soldiers usually fight randomly across the day.

War Motivations

There are several reasons to enter a war:

1: Real Life Hatred (it is the reason why there are so many powerful Balkanic nations)
2: Economical Reasons (having more territories provide more production boost and force people to consume goods)
3: Alliances (an allied country is under attack)
4: Conquest/Freedom Wishes (depends if you are already occupied or not)
5: Having Fun (you are just bored and want to do something from your free time)
6: Natural Enemy bonus (this provides a rise in your damage and your strength)

Because this article is of an exceptional length, the second part will be published later.
