Weighing the Objectives of Those With Good Intentions

It's a curious thing when those in power choose to cede their authority, such as what ocurred in eBelgium earlier this week. For many months the citizens and residents of this polity have been subject to a government run by a dictator but filled with titled-functionaries.

As some have pointed out he dictatoriship module is a component of the game, part of what we signed up for as eCitizens. I would argue, however, that many, if not most of those who joined countries historically known in real life to be democratic republics or something similar, became citizens of their resepective eCountries with an expectation that a form of government that allows a voice for all citizens to be heard would be in place. And a dictatorship certainly quashes that call.

It is my understanding that those behind the dictatoriship in eBelgium were doing so for the best interests of the citizens of the country and to keep the country safe from invastion or political takeovers. In other words, it was done out of the necessity of protecting eBelgium.

There comes a point, however, when performing what is best in the eyes of the monopolistic ruling class, however, needs to be viewed in a different light and communicated to those who believe they are the safety net. And that time came through a vigorous campaign that pointed out that there has yet to be a successful, long-term dictatorship that benefited all citizens and maximized their freedom.

I applaud the dictatorship faction for stepping back and coming to the difficult decision to let the reins be transferred, if that's what the people of eBelgium so desire. There is no greater value than integrity, and to have integrity one must be free to choose. A show of integrity was made this week. And I encourage all to come together to maximize it.
