Weighing the Objectives of Those With Good Intentions
Chuck Button
It's a curious thing when those in power choose to cede their authority, such as what ocurred in eBelgium earlier this week. For many months the citizens and residents of this polity have been subject to a government run by a dictator but filled with titled-functionaries.
As some have pointed out he dictatoriship module is a component of the game, part of what we signed up for as eCitizens. I would argue, however, that many, if not most of those who joined countries historically known in real life to be democratic republics or something similar, became citizens of their resepective eCountries with an expectation that a form of government that allows a voice for all citizens to be heard would be in place. And a dictatorship certainly quashes that call.
It is my understanding that those behind the dictatoriship in eBelgium were doing so for the best interests of the citizens of the country and to keep the country safe from invastion or political takeovers. In other words, it was done out of the necessity of protecting eBelgium.
There comes a point, however, when performing what is best in the eyes of the monopolistic ruling class, however, needs to be viewed in a different light and communicated to those who believe they are the safety net. And that time came through a vigorous campaign that pointed out that there has yet to be a successful, long-term dictatorship that benefited all citizens and maximized their freedom.
I applaud the dictatorship faction for stepping back and coming to the difficult decision to let the reins be transferred, if that's what the people of eBelgium so desire. There is no greater value than integrity, and to have integrity one must be free to choose. A show of integrity was made this week. And I encourage all to come together to maximize it.

It's the same story each time, as we've been under the dictatorship for at least ten times in the last 9 years.
It's simple excuse for them to do what they want and it's has been so for many years.
Don't be fooled, it's just personal greed for the power and the abuse of the official position given by the Administrators.
They don't have an agenda, they don't have a plan, que nada.
They prefer to see eBelgium die than someone else leading it.
As we are normal down to earth people, we don't make fuss and a lot of noise.
There is no serious PTO threat in eBelgium for at least 10 years, since some Greeks and Romanians have tried it.
That's all, if you are not at their side of the camp, you are described as a eternal PTO-er.
We prefer to stay and sit on our side of the fence,
If I blow up a school, but after it install protections against the school being blown up, it does not mitigate my guilt in what I did. We must be careful to to attribute congratulations to the tyrants who created the problem in the first place. They stopped the dictatorship because 1) Getting gold from BH farming has become harder for bigger players like Director 9 and Curly as they are now limited by fuel. This was bringing Belgium to the point of bankruptcy because they were reaching a point where they were unable to cover the cost of upkeep and 2) Their position was becoming untenable in terms of their reputation as major players in this game. It was Churchill who could not convince Pres Teddy that they needed to fight for Egypt, because Teddy knew that the US was anti-colonialism, and the only reason to protect Egypt on behalf of the UK was to protect their route to India, another colony. The US, although big friends with the UK insisted an end to the Colonial Empire in exchange for acceptance on the world stage. This is why WW2 spelled the end of the British Empire. Likewise, the major players in this country knew that if they continued along this foolish path, they to would loose standing on the world stage. There were rumblings for some time, but I believe that a Swiss Article spelled the death-blow https://www.erepublik.com/en/article/swiss-news-global-news-e-belgiums-state-e-japan--2743887/1/20
You show once again that you have a lot of confusion in your head, both in the eWorld and in the real world.
And in fact, we had bankruptcy during your political mandate.
Your incompetence is recognized by everyone in this game and in fact no one accepts you in their country.
But we already knew this.
One thing is certain and unquestionable: as long as you stay in Belgium, the dictatorship will not end.
You try make a point, yet I am still in Belgium and guess what, the Dictatorship has ended. Are you as a political agent of the ruling party saying it has not 2nded. Is that your official stance?
Wait.. wait... is it possible that the MoE is so out of touch with what is happening is Belgium that he thinks we are still under a Dictatorship? How can anyone read what was just said and not come to this conclusion. Andy, I don't think he even read your article.
Leg me educate you Jarabe, the Dictatorship is over. It is no longer. Those congressman who were voted in yesterday are full congressman, and God help us Sam holds the highest office in the land. Perhaps you should write an article, because if our MOE does not know what's happening in our country, then our education system definitely needs some work
dictatorship was not a bad idea for eBe.... it is very sad to see that
