What do you imagine when you hear "July Morning"?
For some it's just a morning in July, for others it's a famous "Uriah Heep" hit. But for the young rebels of the 80s and 90s in Bulgaria, it was something more.

The Communists claime😛 "The music of the West is decadent" and forbade listening, playing and singing it. It didn't matter the text. As long as the band was "western" it was in the "bads" column. "Uriah Heep", of course, was also a banned group. It was a time when communism was going away and we all had hope for a better future.

On 01.07.1980, a group of hippies from Varna welcomed the sunrise to the sounds of "July Morning".Therefore, the idea was taken up by thousands of people on the morning of July 1. became a symbol of hope and a protest

The connection between the song, one of the group's frontmen - John Cooper Lawton, and Bulgaria is special.
Artists are special people. They are more sensitive than others, more vulnerable, but also more dedicated than others. I can only suggest what effect "Julaya", as we call it in Bulgaria, had on him. But he was obviously very strong. So much so that he wished his ashes to be scattered on Kа́men Bryag.

His wife Iris and his children - Natalia and Patrick, fulfilled his last will.
