Time For A Fresh Start

Day 3,213, 18:34 Published in USA USA by Gnilraps

Day 3213 of the New World
September 6, 2016

Greetings eUSA,

It’s Gnilraps, President of the only party of the Workers in eUSA.

And by “Workers”, I mean that USWP is perfectly suited for everyman. It’s a party skyscraper-high with success (moreso than any other Party), but with a wide open front door and free coat-check and a cigar lounge and drinks on the house.

At USWP, we attend to the necessary.

Anyway, let me open with a brief story about one of my friends in this game.

When I first encountered him, he was in Ajay’s party. (If you don’t know who “Ajay” is, sufice to say he was the greatest domestic enemy eUSA has ever seen). Ajay was good at recruiting new players into his party with fun rhetoric and a promise of a quick path to relevance. And Ajay usually delivered on those promises. (Ajay was also a prick, btw).

In fact, this particular guy began his career in eUSA as an illegal immigrant, gaining citizenship by a rogue AFA congressman working for Ajay.

IES was not pleased.

Anyway, he was rising through the ranks at AFA until one day he got to thinking, “I wonder what the game is like outside of a PTO party?” Understand that life inside of Ajay’s PTO party wasn’t really all that terrible. It was hectic, meaningful, and exciting. You would even call it “fun”.

Now at that time, someone leaving Ajay’s party was viewed with enormous suspicion. These were troubled times in eUSA and once you were labeled as a “friend of Ajay”, your prospects for success outside of AFA were bleak.

But Easy Company let this guy in (I remember making an argument on his behalf saying, "just give this dude a chance, he seems like good people"). We embraced him quickly as a brother, and that little bit of legitimacy was enough for him also to get his feet on solid ground with the Feds. The dude became a superstar in both of those groups and eventually would go on to be elected Country President.

I assure you that he would have NEVER been elected CP had he lingered in AFA… had he not said, “let me try something different”.

Was eLife fun in AFA? You bet it was. Was there a brighter future elsewhere? You bet there was!

By now you’ve probably figured out who this is, it’s Trekker Tlumac.

I begin with that story because I want to speak to those of you who have been playing eRepublik for a while.

Many of you have been with the same Party more or less the entire time you’ve been here. You could’ve (please NEVER EVER write “could of”, it makes me crazy) left your Party in the past because of this or that, but you stick around. Your party is sort of intertwined with your identity in this game.

I’ve been there. I was a Fed4Lyfe at one point. (Oh man how I lament the loss of the Fed Forum during my time of leadership there. It was a goldmine of greatness.) Being a Federalist was such a huge part of my game and therefore my identity. But at some point I chose to do something different.

There came “that day” when I launched myself into other waters to see what else this game could hold for me beyond the game I’d been playing as a Federalist. I didn’t leave the Feds because they sucked. I mostly left because it was time to see what else this game could be.

I wanted to enjoy eRepublik differently.

And I mean no harm to the Feds, but I can honestly say that I have enjoyed the game more since leaving them. Not because the game is better outside of the Federalist Party. The Feds are great. But I have enjoyed the game more because the game ended up offering me more merely by embarking on a new journey.

I hope you get what I am saying here.

What I’m asking you to consider today is to follow a new path.

Do it just to find out what it’s like playing this game as someone slightly different. In this case, I am inviting you to discover eRepublik as a Worker.

Let’s say you are in SFP and you’ve totally enjoyed playing the (important and exciting) role of revolutionary. You basked in the glory of the anti-Dictatorship campaign of December 2015. You have relished every click you’ve given to Bear Cavalry in protecting soveriegnty around the world. Your fist has been in the air. You know what I mean, it’s fun to be a revolutionary.

I respect you. I even played that game with you for 8 months or so to see what it was like. Fun for the whole family.

But today I am talking to those few of you who have been lingering in SFP but might be keen for a reason to try something different.

I’m inviting you to consider a change in your strategy or approach to eRepublik. Join USWP and experience eLife from this side of things. What I’m talking about is quite literally to alter your ePersonality for FUN.

In brief: play a different game. You’ll almost certainly love it.

Or let’s say you have been enjoying the game from within WTP. You have embraced your unique “election process”. You’ve had fun rubbing shoulders with Oblige, especially knowing that he’s sort of “hated” by some folks… The experience has been kind of thrilling in fact.

Again, I respect you. Remember, I founded your party to begin with! That’s right, I took it away from RGR, renamed it WTP, and gave it its first logo and media and whatnot. (I had help btw.) Anyway, not my point.

My point is that I don’t think there is a single thing wrong with playing eRep as WTP. But I am asking you to consider reforming your character around something different.

Why not join USWP and discover a different face of eRepublik. I’m not trying to claim it’s a better face. But I am trying to claim that in this game, “different” is often better just because it's a game and “different” by definition equals “increase of fun”. Funner than “the same” anyway. Usually.

Give it a shot. I mean really. My god you can always go back.

I could talk about what it means to be AMP.
I could talk about what it means to be BSP.
I could talk about what it means to be a Fed a lot actually.
I could even talk about the non-political game being played by my mates in EZC.
Maybe you are in some small party of friends. Good for you. I mean that.

All of which are totally legit and fun approaches to eRepublik.

ILU.

What I’m saying is this: give something different a try. And at the same time I’m inviting you to try that something different with me in USWP.

Who knows, maybe together we can begin an eHistoric “movement” that people will be writing articles about 2 years from now… the great USWP migration of 2016. You could be a part of that.

Look. Right now I’m leading USWP and so I am in a unique position to be able to invite you to participate while also having the authority to promise you a warm welcome and a hot meal. I just have this hankering to shake things up.

So think about Trekker’s story. Think about what possibilities could be in your future simply by broadening yourself with a Party switch. And think about how USWP, the most successful Political Party in eUSA, can be a part of a brand new future.

More than that, consider that I’d like to be a part of your future too.
