If I make a run for congress, will they overlook a few flaws?

Being the next best thing to an alien overlord, i.e. a congress person elect without any real experience, A few people may question my qualifications.
So, even though you are essentially representing your party, to be elected, you must rely on the votes of the broader constituency.
The question I posed in my last article generated a few interesting replies, but yielded few real answers. Another, more direct attack on the problem ny give me a more satisfied feeling.
What is known:
Getting your party nomination. FILE and hope you've impressed enough party members to vote for you. Congrats, you're now standing for office.
Run for office in the general election, same process as above, just more people to impress.
Against all odds, you're now in congress. This is where I now stare at a blank wall representing my vast reserves of ignorance.
Where do I go from here. I suppose people who have served in congress would find this question amusing, but it can be a real hindrance for anyone interested in congress, enough so as to dissuade people from running.
Let us now continue this conversation on more solid ground. I look forward to anyone who has served in congress taking a moment to give me, and anyone else interested in running, informative replies.
As always, my article will remain short.
I thank any new subscribers.

Can't help you there, I never was a member of congress in the eUSA. But I guess if you keep on asking questions you'll learn fast enough and you'll do an excellent job.
As a first-term Congressman, here's my input:
It's not a super demanding job. As long as you're on every day and keeping up with the events of the eUSA, you'll be fine. As far as your responsibilities, Congress serves two major functions in-game: 1) to keep the CBO funded (you'll see the 400k cc donation proposals in the law section), and 2) to accept the citizenship requests of those who have been approved by eUSA immigration (there's a link on the forums). Outside of that, most everything else is basically meta. If a Congressmember has an idea for a new program or to adjust an old one, they can discuss it on the forums. There's a whole process.
tldr; If you're on every day and vote for the donations to cbo and don't accept random citizenship requests you've done your job. There's more on the forums if you're itching for something deeper.
I do itch for something deeper, but my intent here is to create a current conversation for anyone with actual experience to help teach those of us who may have an interest in running. Thank you for the very nice and informative comment. I hope to see many more as I will continue with this series until there are few if any questions left to ask.
A good congressman needs to check at least once a day the eUSA Forum:
http://eusaforums.com/forum/index.php?action=forum
There you can sign up to see the private Congress Forum (once you elected), and there you see what to vote and why. Before to sugggest a law in game, always ask in Forum first.
It seems a bit antiquated, perhaps it's time to propose an alternative to that platform? Thanks for the link!
That idea was suggested and an attempt made to transition more towards discord. It was not well received by forum-going Congress members. 😒hocking: Forums are used for record-keeping and discussion/proposal/vote process. Because of that decision making by vote, a vote would be needed to move 'formal/official Congress business' away from forum to discord. You'll be hard-pressed to get regular forum users to vote against using the forum. If more members who are not forum-centric participated, you might get it passed.
There are Congress rooms on the USA discord server where members are welcome to discuss their ideas, ask questions, and check on immigration requests.
Some good feedback is given. What I know from several times I was in the eUSA congress, that being active on the eUSA forums can be quite annoying. People are very hostile to many people, against new players just because they think a new player is a noob or something, against old players because there are quite some feuds between those old players. For me the eUSA forums is destroying fun and a place to stay away and the reason not to run for congress any more. More people chose the same as me, also several players choose to ignore the forums. Being active in the national feed, being active on Discord, being in the mass mail group of your party can be enough to do a proper job. Just be informed (so you may not anger that much people against your will) and choose the way you want to play.
I have discord, I am a member of my party on discord. I can not say I am active on discord. Sometimes, there is just too much discord on discord. I will say that it is a superior in look and feel, the forums are SO LAST CENTURY. 😃
