IDF Reforms

Day 645, 09:25 Published in Ireland Ireland by Irish Department of Defence

Ever since the start of term, it’s been clear the IDF has had problems.
With the loss of the app and forums at the same time we lost all of our info and organisation.
At this stage it’s a broken record so I won't go on.

Many people have been calling for reform in their Congress Manifestos, even as much as the popular “hospital for my region” pledge.
Well yes, you are correct.
We do need reform, and reforms have been worked on and prepared.

They have been ever since I tried to work with the current system; it simply doesn’t work without one person committing large amounts of time to compensate for others.
Whilst you were sweating over congress votes, the final touches to our new organisation have been completed.

Since our plans are only being brought into action now, expect a few bumps along the way.
But in the end, we should have a strong foundation for our military.

Without much further ado, let’s go through the reforms.

Divisions

Divisions are currently numbered, without it being very clear (publicly) what each Division’s role is.
Can we go abroad?
Are we strong or weak?
Well to change that, the new military will be split into 5 different sections.

The Reserves:

Anyone who enlists in the IDF and has less than 5 strength will be assigned to the reserves.
The reserves don’t have Officers. They will be kept listed until they are strong enough to be re-assigned.
Everyone joining the reserves will be given a PM, encouraging them to get on the military section of the forums and to take part in any University courses about the military (Should it still be taking place).

The Home Guar😛

The Home Guard comprises of any soldiers over 5 strength that for whatever reason are tied down at home and are unable to move abroad.
This would include congressmen, party presidents and company owners.
Each Division in the Home Guard has a CO and Division 1 would hold the strongest soldiers, Division 2 the next Strongest and so on.

The Rangers:

The Rangers is similar to the Home Guard.
Same requirements except that the soldiers are mobile.
They have a CO and like the Home Guard, the Divisions are sorted by Strength also.
The Rangers would be the troops who deploy abroad, of course, not all of them may deploy, and naturally, the stronger Divisions would have priority over the weaker ones when it comes to such a situation.

The Galloglaich:

This is the Irish Foreign Legion. These soldiers also have no CO.
Once enlisted, they will be kept on record and will be called upon should the Irish homeland be attacked.
Naturally, checks will be made at regular intervals to keep the list accurate.

Vyse’s Vanguar😛

This group is made of Ireland’s strongest troops who are active and mobile.
In the case of deployment these troops will be the first to arrive and fight.
To become a member of this group, you must have 11 strength minimum.
These troops will of course have a CO.

War Council:

Will remain the same as before, not that I can change it without Dial approval anyway.

Forums:

Once Kolshire grants me Admin on the forums, I’ll be changing the existing Division forums as well as adding a few stickied threads with info.

COs:

I need at least another 2 COs, apply by sending me a PM.
Your responsibilities will require you to be active, logging on several times a day.
You will also need to be able to use excel.

There are a few other smaller things I have in mind, but they can wait until we get the above up and running.

People, who were COs, expect PMs.
People, who aren’t but are able, apply.

Please refrain from signing up again for the new structure.
If you have been in a division before, or have already enlisted but had not been assigned, you are in a Division already.
Hang tight until your CO contacts you.
