D7: Politics and War

Day 4,451, 04:57 Published in USA USA by Jacob Ferguson

As my first week back comes to a close, I have begun weighing my options about politics and where I'd like to end up. I've requested that representatives from different parties reach out and let me know what sets them apart from other parties, what the politics system really even means for the eUSA, what positions each party has, and where to go from here for a prospective congressional candidate.

I've received messages from WTP and the SFP with varying degrees of convincing argument, and also encouraging notes from leadership of smaller parties like EPU. I remember PigInZen from my early days in Erepublik, when he served as President, and he has a good point, I think, about an active and social new player being able to play a big role in getting new faces into politics and growing a political party.

However, with that argument comes the point that a smaller party is much less likely to garner enough votes to even make it on the ballots. It may make sense for a newcomer like me to start off somewhere established and make a name for myself before trying to do something novel and rebelious to the establishment I'm working my way into.

I hope to hear some more convincing arguments today and tomorrow, and will have my decision in the Wednesday, day 4453 article of CLA.

On the topic of war, I think I've found a home with a military unit that seems to have a passion for the system, while also supporting their soldiers who may not have the means just yet to supply themselves with optimal equipment to face the challenges the training wars and even real conflicts the eUSA faces. A personal thanks goes out to Shiloh for the invite to Bear Cavalry. Ursa Fi!

Something that concerns me, though, is that the military priorities in the game don't seem to take into account TW and the territory trading we're supposed to do as part of them, so if the MU leaders do not set up specific targets, players who do not follow the system, or who are not informed of the targets may be lost and fight to defend territories we're meant to cede to our allies. The overwhelming power of the informed citizens is unlikely to have any issues with this, but invasions should be fast, and resistance wars slow, to allow more time on RW for Freedom Fighter medals, it would seem. Maybe I'm off base on this, so please let me know.

As always, I want to thank you for reading. It's readers and supporters like you that keep me coming back to this several times a day, and I wouldn't do it without you. Please subscribe, leave a comment below, and if you have any tips for a new or returning Erepublik member, don't hesitate to mention it here.
