BiH's Picture Contest - The winner is ... s1haya

The winning picture is 1. Pliva Waterfalls - Jajce, proposed by s1haya, with a crushing 52 vote points.
The runner up is 4. Mostar Bridge with 34 vote points.
Next there are several pictures in a closed group. The leader there is 11. Etno Village Stanisici with 21 vote points.

I want to thank all the participants for this beautiful contest, I was very inspired in writing the final article.

1. Pliva Waterfalls - Jajce The Pliva Waterfall is located by the town of Jajce, where the river Pliva meets the river Vrbas. It is one of 12 most beautiful waterfalls in the world, but the only one in the heart of the town.Before it dives into Vrbas, Pliva also creates two amazingly beautiful lakes, Large and Small Pliva lake. All in all this is one of the most amazing places in whole country.
The town Jajce has a rich history ( it has been the residence of the Bosnian Kings) evident in its 28 national monuments.

2. Blagaj Tekija
Blagaj is a village situated in the Herzegovina. It is situated at the spring of the Buna river and a historical tekke (tekija or Dervish monastery). On a picture is the Blagaj Tekija. It was built around 1520 with elements of Ottoman architecture and Mediterranean style and is considered a national monument. Blagaj Tekke is a monastery built for the Dervish cults


3. Prokosko Lake
Nested at altitude of 1636m amazing glacier Prokoško Lake at Vranica mountain is a place where you still can find untouched nature.The lake which is 400 m long – 190m wide and it’s surrounding are protected natural park. The lake is characterized by endemic species of triton, natural rarity – tailed amphibians – which is on the list of protected species.

7. Zenica city, hill Smetovi near Zenica. On picture is monument form former Yugoslavia which is builded in honor of people killed in WW2. Builded 1968.
On front of monumetn it is verse (form Izet Sarajlić): "I do not ask whether they could return, and do not ask if it could be back, while the last, red as communism burning horizon of their desires ..."


8. Zenica city, center of city. On photo is "City stadium Bilino Polje" This is place where national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina first time in history won on home playgorund. This stadium is so called "Dragon nest" (player of national team are Dragons) and it is place where Bosnia and Herzegovina play most home matches. Also stadium is home pitch of local team NK "ČELIK" (or iron stell) who play in Premier Legue of Bosnia and Herzegovina. On left side is river Bosnia (freezed during witnter cold).


9. Zenica city, this place of city is called other side, because it is on other side of town on river Bosnia left bank. This place have own name which is Crkvice (place where is curch) because of curch who where builded on small hill near place on photo. In photo kids playing on snow, in background is mosque En-Sar.

14. Stećci-monument an they were something like cementaries in middle age, they exist only in Bosnia and they are under UNESCO protection
