Join the new world

A while back, I took some time away from the whorehouse to interview congressman Nosyt. This article is in no way an endorsement of any politician, right or left wing. In fact, publishing this article will probably hurt his chances as he is now known to associate with me. The interview took place a long time ago, as you will notice by the dated nature of some of the questions, but I held off on publishing it because the war broke out, and there were obviously more important stories and press releases out there. Well, the war is still going on, and in fact, shows absolutely no signs of stopping anytime soon, so I figured that I might as well publish it as it is already finished. I have not altered the questions or answers in any way, and I thank congressman Nosyt for allowing me to do this.



1) What advice do you have for new players?

Get active on the forums! Seriously, this is a social interaction game; if people didn't use the forums this game wouldn't be nearly as fun. I remember when I started I was really forum shy, but when you get going, you actually meet a lot of people, learn a lot of things, and end up having a great old time.



2) A while back, we had some strange threats from COBRA/AB. Are they still a threat? if so, how do we stop them? if not, what do you think the reasoning behind it was?

They've been very inactive of late, and at the moment I seriously don't think they'll be a problem. Augustus Baldwin was just trying to have some fun I think. However now that the country is in danger I feel that AB still has some sense of patriotism and I doubt he'll attempt to jeopardize the countries security. That being said I think the fact that the orginization may have access to sensetive documents, it can still be considered a threat, and I think the best we can do is to try and keep such information secure by limiting who gets it, and by continuing a policy to ignore the terrorists.



3) How would you improve eRepublik?

Jeez, to be honest I don't find that there is a whole lot wrong with the game 😛 I guess I would like to see the economy be tweaked a little though. One thing that concerns me is the fact that Q5 gifts and moving tickets are almost useless. As suggested by Dabman in an article long ago, it would be cool if rather than only being allowed to gain 10 wellness a day from gifts, that you can only receive ten gifts a day. This way the maximum would be 50 wellness provided you use only Q5 gifts.



4) Do you feel that you are one of eCanada's more respected politicians? why or why not?

Well, I think that lately Canadian politicians have become very respectfull, even more so with the invasion. So Id say that all of us are given quite a bit of respect. As for myself, Im honestly not too sure. On one hand Im usually quite cheery and I seldom step on peoples toes so there's little reason to disrespect me; but I also have a lot to learn about this game and I often make noobish mistakes. As a result Im probabaly not respected as a wise congress member, but rather as a devout one.



5) How would you rate yourself as a politician (1-10)?
How would you rate your performance in congress so far (1-10)?

For both ratings I'd give myself a 7 out of 10



6) Are there any eCanadians outside of your party that you admire? (does not necessarily have to be a politician)

There are numerous! I find there are a lot of great characters in eCanada, and we have a lot to offer. That being said I'll limit myself to the first 5 people who come to mind and they are (not in any particular order mind you) Plugson, Goran Thrax, Eldonrio, Scorpius and Coda.



7) You mentioned before that some congresspersons did not want SCOTIA to succeed. Why do you think this is so?

Yes, there are several people, not only congress members who are completetly against SCOTIA's beilef thAt we should have quality five infastructure across the nation. One argument is that the money should be spent on the CAF so we can actually defend the country. Another is that in any in axion were bound to lose a few of the exeterior provinces, and keeping the interior protected is vital so that we can strike back. However I personally feel that this is something that should happen, and I hope that SCOTIA will continue this endeaver. However as a politician I would like to see the government spend more on the CAF so that the investments of the Canadian people can be secure.



😎 Now that we have been sold out by the eUK, how do you assess the strengths and weaknesses of the so-called FORTIS nations vis-a-vis the other alliances?

Fortis has been a great excuse for countries to bind together in order to halt the advance of Peace. The alliance is very loose when it comes to each members own external alliances. For example Canada isn't penalized for signing an MPP with non-Fortis countries such as Germany. Now that we where done with Atlantis several politicians where looking foreward to making amends with certain Peace countries whom we felt we had no need to be at war with. I'm dissapointed that this will in no way be happenning now that Peace has declared war on Fortis, but this war has shoved us into allying with Eden, and I think it's great that we where able to put old schisms aside. For example both Poland and Sweden have lent us their full support in the war, despite our stance in the invasion of Germany.



9) Given the developments, was it a mistake to not try to include eGermany in our alliance? could more have been done?

Well, we did try and include them 😛 Honestly Im not sure if it would have been the best decision considering that Peace has showed itself to be clearly ant-Fortis. Germany was liberated by Peace, and would probabaly suffer from joining Fortis. That being said Canada should definetly continue having our own alliance with Germany. Our two nations are very friendly to one another, and that's not something you see with every alliance. If we can get an MPP with them, Id say go for it, if not then don't take it personally; they're surrounded by Peace 😛



10) Do you think eCanada could be doing more to reach out to countries in Asia or South America?

Absolutly! We need to establish more relations around the globe if we want our country to really enter the scene internationally.



11) What big things are the politicians in eCanada going to bring us in the future?

Well we were working out training wars in Malaysia, but those are pretty much scrapped now 😛 As most people can see in open-door congress, we would like to try and do some constitutioanl rewrites so that the document is more efficient. However, at the moment our biggest concern is ensuring that we still have a country by the end of the month. Once the threat is over we'll probably be doing some changes to the CAF as well, just to make our fighting force that much more efficient and powerful.



12) What are your future plans in this game? president of eCanada, perhaps??

I have no intention of becoming the country president in the near future. I would like to stay on congress for as long as possible however; it's been a blast and I've really enjoyed playing a part in administering the country. I'm not seeking a cabinet position, though I may accept if one was offered to me. As for the Party Presidentials, I hope to be re-elected this month, but I'm sill undecided weather or not I'll be running again. However, I'll be beginning University in the fall and I expect my activity to fall drastically, and I intend to limit myself to congressionall duties during the school year.



13) There have been some issues with regards to the misappropriation of certain funds by the government and/or some members of the government. There has also been alleged theft. What do you think should be done to prevent these things from happening?

I think what has to be done has already been done. All finances are being kept under close watch, and there are limits as to how many people have access to certain government orgs. The Minister of Revenue, Moffington, is also the president roommate. I think it's safe to say that our funds are secure 😛 However, I would like to see a list of who has access to which government orgs, and it's be nice if we had either monthly our weekly password changes (unless they already do 😛)



14) You wrote an article a while back about the partisan fighting that goes on in eCanada. do you think it is better now? what do you think could be done to make things more concilliatory?

I dunno how it happened, but as I stated earlier, I've noticed a significant increase in the amount of respect in congress. Sure we disagree many times, but it usually doesn't take us long to come to a consensus, and disagreements always target the ideas proposed; not the individuals. The last presidential campaign saw very minimal mudslinging involved, though I was disappointed to see that no debate was scheduled. However, it's usually during the elections that such mudslinging comes about so we shall see how it goes; however, with the current threat to the nation, I am confident that we will put most, if not all, political differences aside in order to present a united government who will be capable in keeping the country secure.



15) Finally, have you at last found that bad eCanadian you were looking for? 😉

I'm still looking, but fortunately I have yet to come across such a person. What can I say, you're all awesome 😃
