A game mechanic shortcut
George Barker
Save yourself money when you move with this shortcut:
A Q5 moving ticket allows you to move 5000 Km, as you poor non-Americans put it, in distance. So by toggling back and forth between paying CC for the move whenever it is cheaper than the cost of a moving ticket, you can save a lot of money over time if you move for battles and to work your companies.
You're welcome!

Has someone else written an article on it? I just noticed it myself yesterday.
I noticed this option long ago.
Sorry, I thought everyone knew about it.

I didn´t know you could do it without going to settings each time. Thx!
I'm pretty sure it's a recent update.
It's not. I have used many many times.

I started noticing this when they changed up the Daily Challenge.
Maybe Plato updated it then?

thanks
I thought everyone knew this good ages 😳
Another tip.
If the distance is even 1 km extra like 5001kms. It'll use 2 tickets. So move somewhere close like 4800-4999 kms and then move by cc.
Seems cumbersome and an extra headache. But saves a lot of cc in the long run.
I never saw the shortcut before yesterday. I've been clicking through to the game options menu so long that I still have to remind myself this is here.
Game options has earned a tab of its own in my browser 😁. But still, it's old news, like others have mentioned. Problem is, for me at least, that the other move situation, when fighting, choose side, does not offer this shortcut, hence my extra tab.

I have never noticed this option, I struggled to put the tickets on market all the time until today XD
can also use game options:
https://www.erepublik.com/en/main/citizen-edit/edit_game_options
to set "Prefer currency when travelling"
simpler (for me) then putting tickets on the market
I usually move from the battleground page, and from there the option is not avaliable. If I see too much money, I go in my profile, options and I modify the choice from there (currency or ticket). Then I go back in the battleground and I move.
They really need to add the option to switch when traveling on the battlefield.
Well thank you very much not old news to me. But I do have a question, Are there instances where it is more expensive to use CC than to use tickets? If not I will use CC every time. all my tickets are free but im talking in as if I had to buy them
Yes, there are times it cost more CC than it would to use a moving ticket and times it's much cheaper to use CC than a moving ticket. I always check which is cheaper then go with that.
A Q5 moving ticket allows you to move 5,000 Km for free. It costs, in CC, 10% of the Km moved, with a minimum of 20 CC. Q5 tickets usually cost about 280 CC or so each, so whenever the moving cost is less than $280 per CC, you should pay CC.
Here's an example. Suppose you are going to move to, as my example in the article shows, Guangxi China. It's 13,506 Km, which would be a moving cost of 1350 CC. Now, let's look at the moving ticket cost. 13506/5000 = 2.7 Q5 moving tickets, which the game rounds up to 3, since there is no such thing as fractional moving tickets. 3 moving tickets @ 280 = 840 CC. So in this case, it saves you 510 CC to use the tickets. Probably 70 - 80% of the times I move it's less than 2800 Km, so I end up paying CC to move most of the time.
If you hate all these numbers, or feel I've mad a bollocksy mess of it, just remember: each moving ticket is worth about $280 CC. Whenever it costs more than that per moving ticket, you should use the moving ticket, whenever it costs less, pay CC.
Short answer: Yes.. A Q5 tickets will move you up to 5000km. Traveling costs 100cc per 1000km. So a 5000km trip costs 500cc. Current ticket cost is 279cc on the market. So anything over 2790km is cheaper to use a ticket. Anything less, better to use cc. I like to use 3000km as a easy measure line. If it's over 3000km then I use a ticket. If the moving distance is over 5000km, then apply the same math just x2 or x3 it for travel that is far. Most of the time I use cc and dont quibble over a few dollars, however if you are traveling 9500km its cheaper to use 2 tickets, 560cc, instead of paying the 950cc.
and If it's over 10000km, its always cheaper to use tickets,.. (George did cover a lot of this, ty George)
I thought my response was the short answer. 😆
Thankyou!!
TY George, so much easier then going to the settings page each time,..

Funny, you were the one who told me I could change the ticket/cash preference in "settings". I later saw they had added this choice to the "travel" button, and I didn't bother to tell you because I assumed you would already know!
I just assumed they'd never add it, as it made too much sense. 😉 It could still be improved upon. Really, they need to use some of the white space on the left to add toggles and the like.
Quick to the point, and useful.

Great advice, and I wish I'd seen this article earlier! I figured this out this toggle only last week, before that I was always running out of moving tickets
