Similarly this was an internal congress issue. Yes it's meta'ish, but so is PTO and ATO. No button to click that say 'lets start a PTO' or another button to say 'oh no, defend with ATO'. Thus much of the game past 2-click is left to us. For a lot of people this means 2-click+1 = meta. That's a shame as it limits participation, but whatever. Indeed, I referenced Direct Democracy as that is what is being implicitly demanded in the case of the conservative party leadership election. Eluding to the discrepancies between what people are voting for and what they think they're voting for i.e. during a general election you vote for your local representative that is party aligned and provides a direct seat in parliament with the party with the most seats getting past the post winning and taking office. What a seriously high number of people think they're voting for is the leader of a given party. This is then identity politics as MSM studies what type of person they are, have they had naughty sex and what clothes they wear. Only under direct democracy would you get a vote on internal party politics.

Indeed I concur, just as in RL, we're governed under a system of representative democracy, just as in America (ignoring the grey areas such as lobbying in both).

I'm not trying to hide from your point, I can see the sticking point 'The bad guys got elected representatives, therefore they have to represent themselves). This has two aspects.

The in-game zero meta version is that they are indeed congress members, they did get 5 gold for each of the seats they won, they can contribute to group discussion held on the eRepublik forum and are free to engage other citizens, they are free to use CS passes, vote on and table motions via the in-game controls.

The meta version is that they're being denied acceptance and credibility, for their hostile (meta action) of PTO, as a community your elected representatives have soon together and said 'no, your behaviour is not acceptable and we will not bow to silly demands and threats'.

So if you want to be a non-meta player, then fine they get everything they're entitled to in-game. But don't then try to hit me with the stick that under a meta system that you don't recognize, we're treating them unfairly compared to a mixture of the two.
