[Seanan] How to get a Babyboom
Patrick O'leary
Hi,
I'm back with another suggestion; Babybooming by creating a decent forum.
Your likely reaction to such genius
Well, my sharp eyed friends, I think it is entirely possible. But before I say exactly what I am suggesting, lets take a good look at what is stopping a babyboom:
✯ No money for doing anything babyboom-ish with.
✯ No one wants to recommend erepublik to their friends
✯ rl Ireland hasn't got a large pool of players to sell the game too.
>We don't have any money because no one wants to donate; FAIR ENOUGH.
>Don't wanna recommend? I live in the UK, so my silence is a service. However, I still understand why people might not want to tell people about the game:
1) Its shite.
2) "Hey yeah, this game erepublik.. you can create an alter-ego, get involved in politics and battle your enemies in glorious clickie combat. I'm captain in the best military unit in the world :3" GOODBYE FRIENDS, HELLO MANY CATS
3) Awkwardness.
>Safe sex campaigns have done wonders to destroy the bored, jobless teen population for us to recruit. Lets just hope they put tuitions fees up again. THATS LIFE.
Create a forum which houses multiple online games for Irish players.
Why have a forum just for erepublik? Other browser games? What about Xbox, PS3, Steam groups etc?
Marcus currently has an un-used forum which currently has two online games house
😛
I probs should of just given a link.
I've got a few erepublik players on xbox live. Before now, members of the community got together to play Supremacy. You know, we're all gamers of something else. So lets bring it all together and create an Irish gaming hub. Without a doubt, there will be crossover from other games and platforms into erepublik. Get 'em by association!
✯ Would you feel better about recommending a gaming forum to a friend?
✯ On Skyrim has anyone actually completed the Thieves Guild Quest? I mean once you get the skeleton key, you just feck off with it.
✯ Online gaming such as xbox and PS3 is nowadays an acceptable social activity (Dated a media student, she told me that. Still a dosh subject though). Crazy kids, but creating a forum which reflects that would be clever.
✯ Hell add a music section. All that. Just a hub for Irish entertainment. Anyone heard of George Barnett? Up da Pirate!
I'm not so sure about rules about advertising on forums and money.. BUT if you get enough people on a forum, I assume you can get money off it? Either way, I think this idea could work if we create a forum which is easy on the eyes and we can get ourselves motivated enough just to go on it.
P.S. If you managed to miss my very long and very boring suggestion on improving the Free Tank Scheme, you can find it here.

no tits ?
Its a very good and do-able idea tbh man, id be game ball for it but would need support to get this up and running. If we can get a few to work on this we could get a load of players from it. Sure I defo wouldn't have problems passing a gaming forum onto my mates cause it will have loads of games stuff on it for all consoles and computers.
Sounds like a good idea. It would certainly be easier to pass onto friends then a game (Popularity is a big thing in todays society, I'd hate to look bad by playing Erep 😛 )
We better be careful not to lose players to other games too though.
Ah tbh Eagna if they play eRep for any period of time and stayed here I can't see us losing them to other games we talk about on that new forum idea. Most try to quit this but cant, its like heroin for gamers.
good
"jobless teen population for us to recruit"
^
I was that jobless teen recruit, I started playing when I was 18. Going to be 20 in a few months.
eUK did this about a year ago and it was an absolute failure, forums activity took a nose dive and they had to revert back.
That said, irish forum activity is bollocks already so it can't hurt, but if it didn't work for them why would it work here? I'm not trying to piss on your parade (for once) but it won't work. I'd suggest mindlessly spamming other irish forums.
trying sth new is always better than doing nothing, keep up the good work
It's not really new if it's been tried before.
Can't explain it to haughenator, but to make it work requires effort. Certain parts of the forums must be voluntarily joinable and likewise escapable for individuals. I'd assume it would help to start off like a sand box, and through forum user feed back and suggestions the forum community will gain that which they desire. Long and short the forum needs to be many things, voluntary participation in one or more areas should be by mechanics.
Forge a good mod team, and make rules of conduct. Also, those Bot accounts making spam should not exist... if they can be blocked you'll be solving 99% of the initial problems involved with retention.
The problem is that the game has moved into the "Developers making profits" phase. That's why gold is not easily available and is essential to make any progress. It's not possible to advance rapidly anymore without spending money, so only people who are already addicted keep playing.
@Frank Dobbs: It does retain a sizable user base however, and if you see the news here and elsewhere much of what you've stated is very much common knowledge. Many people keep contact on this game waiting for improvements, and communities have adapted to actually playing several games other than this (and yes not paying here whatsoever). That is why I believe this approach has merit.
UK recently had the vaunted BabyBoom. Something like 4k new citizens? Tripling their population.
Sounds great... they're hopeful of keeping 400 of theses 4k active. 10%
RoIreland has approx 7.5% of UK's population IRL
A proportionate population boom in eIreland would be 300 new citizens.
If we managed the 10% retention UK is striving for:
Our Babyboom would amount to 30 active new citizens...
Sweet: I understand that level of logic, when Spain created a large Baby Boom due to the occupation by Brazil and the USA eventually a flag of peace was drawn. It is good Ireland and the UK came to some agreement along those lines (though I haven't heard of this recent B😎, but other forces want to see it different?
Not enough White Peace in whatever you call WW5 these days, its utter chaos.
I'm not sure you'r really following my logic.
This is the penetration rate of Erep in some noteworthy countries:
(active Erep election votes vs RL population)
Serbia 1 in 1,932
Croatia 1 in 3,375
Poland 1 in 10,077
In English speaking countries we find much lower Erep activity rates:
USA 1 in 98,673
Canada 1 in 60,661
Britain 1 in 104,671 (1 in 61,860 if 10% of Babyboom survives)
Ireland devestates the English speaking world at 1 in 22,115
When ppl talk about Ireland needing a babyboom, I wonder if they've considered that we may have already had ours.
Ireland's success is due to our liberal immigration policy ingame. Immingration is the key to our future in erep.
The projected longterm population impact of an Irish babyboom is < the amount of establish players we can import into our population EVERY SINGLE MONTH!
And tons of ppl want to move here cuz we kickass!!
Ireland needs to stop treating CS approvals like napkins
no babyboom just use all our money to makes 300 god of wars
i have done thieves guild quest to complete the quest you have to return it if you don't you don't get cool black master thief armour
Sweet rules, nuff said.
@Sweet Drinker
I think RL Irish ratio of eIreland is quite low. This is why there is a devastating 1 in 22,115 but no viable babyboom in RL Ireland.
Precisely Luminara
It can still be tried, just cause its difficult or we may not get loads of people doesn't mean dont even try.
deeply disturbed that racial mockery is not condemned by ireland. it is not appropriate or acceptable.
