[JP MoFA] Sorting things out

Day 2,211, 09:50 Published in Japan Japan by Masaharu Homma

To all eJapanese citizens and all other readers.

A few days ago the cabinet as you know it took position within our current government. The last few months have not been the greatest for our nation, as we have been at war with the eRepublic of China (Taiwan) and have seen some of our regions under occupation. Our current cabinet faces an uphill struggle as we face many challenges, however we feel confident that we will be able to resolve these issues with our current cabinet.

For myself too this month will be a challenge. Only recently did I find myself returning to eRepublik. I set myself to very high standards, which resulted to me being granted the opportunity of being the Minister of Foreign Affairs for eJapan for the month of December. With little to no experience in this area Kitarou Yuki, our current country president, introduced me to the tasks that come with the position with the experience that he has taken from his own two terms as Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The purpose of this article is to inform the public of developments in the area of eJapanese Foreign Affairs. I will describe to the best of my abilities what has been taking place. Government transparency has been lacking the past few months, something this cabinet feels should change. With this article I will be taking the first step towards an open government.

For the first few days I took care of all the formalities that come with the changing of a cabinet. I established contact with all our current allies informing them of the changes in cabinet and reiterated our willingness for a continued state of friendship and cooperation. I also received messages from other Minister of Foreign Affairs with similar purposes and replied to these messages accordingly.

Having gotten all the formalities out of the way I moved on to other issues. One of the points high on our agenda was to resolve our relations with eChina which had worsened over the last month. Our former country president Kantaaa had written an article (as can be found right here) which spoke of the game update introducing Taxation of Occupied Regions. He spoke of his frustration of how the update would affect the nation, and spoke of being 'robbed' of taxes in the regions held by eChina and eTaiwan. The people of eChina took this as insulting, and this issue hadn't gone resolved.

I'd like to therefore take up on this opportunity to reiterate willingness for a continued state of friendship and cooperation between eJapan and the nation of eChina. In no way do we perceive the eChinese people as 'robbers' and we thank them for their generosity as just last month they willingly gave up the regions of ours that they had held for a few months per by our own request.

I have also been working towards establishing new and reigniting old friendships. As we speak I am in contact with multiple nations which all have been very open to establishing such relationships. I hope to bring you more on this as developments take place.

Over the coming month I hope to publish frequent articles to keep the eJapanese citizens informed of any developments on the area of Foreign Affairs. I will look to publish a weekly report as well as articles per development.

If you have any questions and/or concerns, please feel free to contact me.

Signed,

Masaharu Homma,
Minister of Foreign Affairs
