[JP MoFA] Providing clarification

Day 2,215, 07:56 Published in Japan Japan by Masaharu Homma

To all eJapanese citizens and all other readers.

As is common knowledge, most of the eJapanese regions have been under foreign occupation over the past few months. It was two months ago that the eRepublic of China (Taiwan) proposed a Natural Enemy Law against eJapan.

This war was paired with a lot of confusion for eJapanese citizens, as the government failed to provide clarification on the status of the war. Some spoke of a 'mistake', others said that it was a 'training war'. The real reason for this was the eTaiwanese people wished to gain the resource bonuses which their own regions cannot provide them with.

Since this war initially kicked off we have both regained and lost territories as time progressed. The latest one being only three days ago, in which we fought a defensive campaign for the region of Kinki.

The purpose of this article is to provide clarification to the eJapanese people on the current status of this war and where we currently stand in our efforts to once more have our regions returned to us.

The cabinet of last month first entered negotiations with the eTaiwanese regarding the return of regions to eJapanese possession. Terms were set by the eTaiwanese occupiers, however were deemed as unacceptable by our cabinet and congress. The efforts to come to an agreement on a non-aggression-pact were unsuccessful and negotiations stalled.

Having been appointed the Minister of Foreign Affairs for this month I deemed the eTaiwanese issue to be a high priority on my agenda. We eJapanese are proud people, and the desire to be an independent nation comes naturally. Regardless of whether this is achieved by military or diplomatic means.

A few days ago I established contact with eTaiwanese representatives. Initially they were quite hesitant to once more enter negotiations, after numerous unsuccessful attempts to come to an agreement last month. We however managed to once more establish common-grounds and agreed to a sit-down this weekend.

We will be taking the feedback given by congress on the last proposed non-aggression-pact into account when entering negotiations. If we manage to come to an agreement we will present the terms to our current congress. If our congress votes in favour it will be passed.

Both eTaiwanese and eJapanese representatives that have been in contact in the past few days have been quite positive towards one another and we are confident we can come to an agreement with terms that suit sides.

If a non-aggression-pact is passed all details will be published in a separate article alongside a full explanation to the terms set. I hope to be able to reveal more as time progresses.

If you have any questions and/or concerns, please feel free to contact me.

Signed,

Masaharu Homma,
Minister of Foreign Affairs
