[Govt of eBelgium] A look back on the last events...

The last week could have been confusing for some of you.

You have been the witnesses of a Declaration of War from ePoland to eBelgium, of several Natural Ennemies proposal between eBelgium and the eNetherlands, of the battle of Wallonia and Brussels, of the Resistance War of Wallonia, of an presidential impeachment proposal, and so on... Some newspapers have published articles about the current situation of eBelgium, and debates have started on our national forum, but now it's the time to have a look back on what happened really.

All have started by the threat of a possible attack of the eNetherlands on eBelgium, some weeks ago. The eNetherlands didn't had the opportunity to fight in a direct war since a very long time, and they were looking for some opportunities to do so. They didn't have to search far far away, as eBelgium could have been a perfect target for them. At this time, eBelgium had signed a first MPP with the eUSA, after 2 mpp's with PHX countries. Some voices in eNL said by after that this mpp had been seen as a provocation by eBelgium, and that's why their CP choose to put "conquer Belgium" as National Goals for his election. Some others said these goals were just set for "lulz". Anyway, eBelgium had actived his foreign policy network to be ready for a possible attack on his territory and to search the support of some others countries, as eBelgium had no chances to win against eNL in 1 vs 1. Contacts have been taken with several countries, from Eden or from PHX. In the same times, ePoland became a new neighbour of eBE, and diplomatics talks have been set up with the Polish officials. If you remember, that was also the same period that we suceeded to get a deal with eGermany for the free loan of an aluminium region, that we finally declined.

While the threat of a NL attack became more serious, eFrance, which was aware of the tensions between his north's neighbour and his phx's ally, decided to organised a diplomatic meeting eBelgium and eNetherlands, to help us find an agreement and have a serious talk to calm down the tension between our countries. This meeting was a real success, and eFrance even decided to stand up for eBelgium, and to claim that they won't tolerate an attack on eBelgium. This statement have been welcomed with joy by the Belgian Congress and the Belgian Government.

One day or two later, i had a private talk with an polish official, from the MoFA department. He wanted to know if eBelgium could agree to propose Poland as Natural Ennemy in order to gave them a free war/battles to conquer Wallonia. I understood that ePoland were studying his options to start a war on eFrance, as we all knew that it had to happen soon or later, with ePoland going through West more and more. If i had been cooperative by listenning their proposition, i declined it quite fast for the simple reason that our Congress won't never agree to vote on a NE/DoW proposal on ePoland to backstabb eFrance, while they stand up for eBelgium freedom no longer than 2 days ago.



While i thought that this option was erased for ePoland, i saw in my erep alerts, ~7,8 days later, just after the Congressional Elections, that ePoland had proposed a DoW on eBelgium. And that, as a reaction, eNL had proposed us as Natural Ennemies... I started by contacting the Polish President, and he informed me that he took care of DoW eBelgium by himself as he knew that eBelgium won't do it. Poland and his 15 allies were invading us... But the only interest they had was to get a boder with an original region of eFrance, by conquering Wallonia. He told me directly that only one region will be conquered, that Peace will be proposed directly, and that they will RW Wallonia themselves a few days later. He also made me noticed that ePoland waited for the Congressional Elections to be ended before to conquer a Belgian region. I also contacted the NL CP to learn why they proposed eBelgium as Natural Ennemies and to informed them of the situation. They wanted to conquer Flanders not let Poland able to have a border with the eUnited Kingdom. The difference between a DoW and a NE proposal is that peace can't be proposed directly if we are natural ennemies : if the NL proposal passed, eBelgium would have been wipe out of the map. Their NE proposal wouldn't allowed them neither to attack Wallonia before the Polish did, and so we agreed to try to make our NE proposal voted down. I say, ours, because a illegal NE proposal on NL had been proposed too by a belgian congressmember (without debates on our forum before).

The situation was pretty difficult for eBelgium : how do Belgians citizens had to react on the polish DoW ? We had good relations with ePoland, and we had a special relation with eFrance, our neighbour and old friend. The Belgium government decided to act as neutrally as eBelgium is. We decided to not interfere in the PL/FR conflict, and we decided to not support any sides. Supporting a side mean to fight along them on the battlefield, against the other country. Our army is not big, and to be honest, his size is the size of a small plattoon of eFR or ePL's army. The damages we can inflicted are relatively small, even if our MoD have done an amazing work to build a better organised army. But our poulation is quite yound and not very experienced, and we have to let time to time to become stronger on the battlefields. To fight with Poland against France ? Never. To fight with France against Poland and destroying all the new links we created with them and to have our country wipe out instead of signing a peace with them, and all this for a ~100k damages ? The Government decided to act logically, and rationally.

Few minutes after that the NL NE proposal was rejected, an other one had been proposed, by "mistake" (is it possible to propose two NE proposal in a row ? Let's try !). This one had been voted down too, but it bring some more tensions between our countries and some difficulties for our citizens to understand what happened. Wallonia have been conquered by Poland, and a Resistance War had been started by a NL Citizen, who wanted "to free Belgium". As ePoland didn't conquer a region yet in eFrance, they decided to secure the RW, and the government decided to not give orders to fight in, as it would have been only a waste of gold for our citizens, who are not very rich.

In the same time, a peace proposal was voted ingame between eBelgium and ePoland, as it was planned. A peace treaty need 48h to be signed, 24h for each congress to approve it. To give times for our Congress to sign it, ePoland waited as long as possible before to attack an other region. With the new war rules, a country have 24h to attack an other region after having conquering one, or there will be a random auto-attack. I asked the Polish President to attack Brussels, and not Flanders, to not worry more our neighbours, eFR, eNL, and eUK, which all have a border with Flanders.
The war of Brussels started, and before it ends, the peace treaty was signed by the polish congress and it stopped the war between our countries : Brussels was secured, the peace was sign, and we had to wait few days to have Wallonia back in eBelgium.

ePoland attacked the french region of Champagne-Ardennes from Wallonia, and after epic fights, eFrance succeeded to secure the region and to win the initiative in the war. The peace between ePoland and eBelgium appeared to be a good thing for eFrance, as they "just" had to conquer Wallonia and to RW it to close the war versus Poland (NE wars are automaticcaly close when there are no more common borders). In the second battle of Wallonia, ePoland made amazing damages (more than 3 millions damages for the top3 fighters) and won the battle and they had the intiative again. They will attack Champagnes-Ardennes for a second time.

But the last days have been very difficult for eFrance, which spent a lot of his gold treasure, and which seen the more stronger members of his alliances quit it. Talks started between eFrance and ePoland and they tried to negociate a possible peace. The campagn of ePoland in eFrance had only one goal : conquer a rubber region, to give ePoland all 10 ressources and bonuses for their industries. While the all eWorld was looking at tomorow, searching options for new alliances, with the creation of PANAM, the death of PHX, the rumors on EDEN, etc..., the french government seems to have asked themselves this question : is it better to give away one region for a limited amount of times, or to be wipe out / under occupation, while there is important foreign affairs question to be solved for the future ? They decided to sign a treaty which give Poland the right to conquer Poitou-Charentes until admins developp the new industries and to make peace after.

The decison that eBelgium took few days ago, France took it also now. And Germany is currently negociating to do the same. All this decisions are debated, sometimes challenged in our own communities, but we acted as Government's leader : we acted logically and rationnaly, for the good of our countries in the mid/long term (i can only speak for my country ofc).



For now, Wallonia is still a region of ePoland, and the Resisance War will be launched when ePoland will have secured 2 french regions and will be attacking a 3rd one (we could expect it for the 2th January, or the 3th). And then, our country will be free again and we will be able to face the new challenges of the eWorld, and in particular the shaping of the new alliances.

In the same time, i don't know if you noticed it, because they were no articles/shout ingame about it, but an impeachment have been proposed against me few days ago, for the "fatal error against democracy" i made, which was to not informed officially the Congress about the talk i had with the polish official 10 days ago. The proposal have been rejected, and i will still be your President for the last days of my term.

I guess the Foreign Affairs will be one of the major points in the next electoral debates for the Presidence of Belgium, and i hope that everyone will measure the importance of it for a country like eBelgium.
