[CP] An Attractive But Difficult Study

Day 1,629, 00:26 Published in Canada Canada by Sperry

Dum Spiro Spero

Another day comes and goes for eCanada. Today, over 500 Canadians have added a few clicks to their day to help choose our next President. It's a simple task to do, and yet it is essential to the life of our nation. Countries live and die by the contributions of their leaders, and the CP absolutely must be one of those leaders for a country to thrive.

Today Canada voted in an election of choice. You have voted free of fear for internal treachery, free of the worry that you either support the "only" candidate, or see your country rust under inactivity and disinterest. You have voted knowing that you will elect either a former President, an experienced soldier, or a rising reformer. You have voted in the interest of progress, potential, and positive possibility.

I would like to extend my thanks to Francois and Connor. Francois and I discussed this election at length last month, planning and dreaming of a true campaign race that would make Canada proud. While he stepped aside, Connor continued - writing a series of articles and earning the votes of well over a hundred Canadians (and 20% of the ballot to boot).

Thank you to the parties that were kind enough to support me in my re-election bid, most particularly the CPF, CNC, and PAQ, who as smaller parties don't always have the opportunity to weigh in when the larger parties show up. All three have contributed specifically to this election, and I appreciate that immensely.

272 days ago, I ended my first term as President. Since then I've seen Canada in good days and bad, and I have seen the growing list of tasks for our country to achieve on our journey back to greatness. So let's get started.

The War with England

Trenton's term as CP is coming to an end. As a parting gift, he and Congress have entered us into the age old fight with our longtime rivals - the British. We have conquered 1 region and are (at publishing time) attacking another. With Britain divided between the Irish, American, and French, there aren't many more regions left in the Tea & Eel Empire.

Canadians have been taking advantage of this open war to pick up as many True Patriot medals as they can get their hands on. The result is promising - high profits and many wins - but it should be looked at with caution. Canadians are urged to remember tomorrow, and every day following, in a game that puts attrition at the centre of its mechanics. I've earned a True Patriot medal, and I enjoy the gold it's brought me. But rather than blowing my 75 bazookas on the first two fights of the war, I'm hanging on to them. They're going to be used for Canada, no doubt about that, but timing is crucial and a self-gutting at the start won't help us if we're being beaten up next week.

War is crucial for a nation's success and growth. With this new achievement, war profiteering takes on an entirely new meaning. But bear well in min😛 war with England is neither our eternal fate nor our only option. Complacency has never been our ally - push for more vibrant options and they will become possibilities. We have done it before, and can certainly do it again.

In the Company of Friends

Canada is part of two major alliances - Terra and EDEN. Both of these alliances are crucial to our international relationship and our ability to wage war successfully. In months past our relationships with TEDEN have suffered from a staggering lack of communication. That's going to be a thing of the past. MoFA Plugson has already begun his ever-dutiful work contacting allies and identifying which players are the movers and shakers of the newly elected cabinets. We've already spoken with representatives from the United States and Portugal, where re-elected Presidents Artela and Justino offer experience and opportunity for expansion.

As we enter Day 1629 we'll see much more communication with the highest levels of government in key allied nations, as well as within the command structures of Terra and EDEN themselves. This communication isn't just about "can I has?" - it's about rebuilding relationships and honouring their role in this game so that we can move forward as friends and allies, not as needy charity cases. Canada's got more to offer than arrogance or conceit - we've got collaboration and loyalty on our side, and we're going to use them every chance we get.

Plato and Cicero

You know Plato. The Philosopher Admin, he represents so many things about this game that Canadians are fed up with. Not long ago, some of our "friends" took it upon themselves to slander Canada through the cheer 'Death to Plato, Death to Canada' - connecting the unfortunate line that, like Plato, Canada had come to represent much of the ill in the world. This line does not go unnoticed. And today - under renewed leadership geared toward hope and honesty - Plato's going bye-bye.

Cicero is the Roman who brings us Dum Spiro Spero - While I breathe, I hope. Cicero was a philosopher and orator and was one of Rome's greatest minds in troubled times. His commitment to the Roman Republic made him famous in his time, but it was his communication that let him ring through the ages. Canada deserves its own Cicero. It deserves a reputation that looks back on the ideas of Plato, and rather than accepting them simply because "we get by", insists on something greater for our nation.

Cicero rejected Plato. So too, this Cabinet rejects hostility and pettiness. Instead we embrace seeing each Canadian involved, and each citizen part of the solution. We're your Cabinet for May 2012, and I am thrilled to be here with them:

Vice President: Eric Last
Minister of Defence: Exalted Druid
Minister of Finance: Macubex
Minister of Foreign Affairs: Plugson

The path to improving our country is an attractive but difficult study. Let's get going.
