[CI] Launch of Conservatives Ireland
Elite C
Hello people of eIreland!! I am delighted to announce after a long wait, that I am launching the Conservatives Ireland party.
Conservatism can be defined as:
not a clear cut philosophy but a set of beliefs which, in general, tend to support (1) free enterprise capitalism, (2) continuation of traditions, (3) minimal government intervention in economy, (4) strict law and order enforcement, and (5) gradual change as opposed to radical reform.
eIreland is lacking a Conservative voice and CI wants to be that voice.
I have been working on this since Christmas. I have waited so long to launch it as I wanted to make sure that the policies it sets out are practical and achievable.
Having gone through a period of uncertainty, we are returning somewhat, to normality. I believe that our policies can help create a fairer and more viable country.
Without further ado, our policies:
Economy
Finance Policies
We believe that the government has the responsibility to release government expenditure figures so the taxpayer knows how their money is being spent.
We believe that the taxes should be spent, primarily, on the protection of the state, through the funding of the military and Mutual Protection Pacts
We support putting in place a framework for citizens to start a new business,
Taxation
We support setting the minimum wage to 10.00cc to ensure each worker is paid a fair wage.
We support a wage refund for communes to ensure they can operate competitively.
We support setting Work Tax at 5.00%, this is to ensure a balance between generating government revenue and encouraging more citizens to work.
We support setting the Import taxes at 99% to encourage citizens to buy Irish products.
We support setting VAT at 5.00%. This will ensure a balance between generating government revenue and allowing citizens to sell products without being taxed too heavily.
Defense
Alliance
We support Ireland’s neutrality and believe that not being aligned with a select group of nations will provide greater protection for our country in the long term.
MPP’s
We support heavily investing in MPP’s so to support as many allies as possible when it is needed.
Focus Strikes
We believe that Focus Strikes, orchestrated by the Minister of Defense, will be more effective in wars and allow for greater influence.
CO’s
We support government funded CO’s for battles in Ireland’s original regions.
We support the introduction of policy to better detail the mechanisms for creating a CO.
Being ‘Wiped’
We believe that every effort should be made to ensure Ireland is never ‘wiped’.
Military Units
We believe that the government should invest in Military Units, in particular, the Irish Army.
However we believe that every Military Unit in Ireland should be entitled to funding from the government, subject to fulfilling criteria.
Community
Community Policies
We believe the Department of the Community is responsible for creating activity in the community.
We believe the department should be self-funding, but that it receive a start-up investment at the start of each month of 500cc to being stimulating activity.
Foreign Affairs
Allies
We believe that the Minister of Foreign Affairs should be in contact with our allies at all times and update the government on the events of the eWorld.
Immigration
We support the setting up of an Immigration Committee.
We believe that our borders should be secured tightly and only those who meet the set-out criteria should be granted citizenship.
Dictatorship
Democratically Elected Dictator
We support the use of an elected dictator to preserve the sovereignty of the state.
We believe the Dictator is a button pusher and should not have a role in government.
Congress
Congress Standing Orders
We support Congress confidentiality but we believe that private citizens should be able to access Congress records by requesting such information from the Ceann Comhairle.
Inter-Party Relations
Inter-Party Policies
We believe that for there to be an effective and efficient community, all parties must work together.
We support creating alliances with other parties to create a strong government.
Party Procedures
Party President
Any party member may run for Party President as per the mechanics of eRepublik.
Vice-President
The VP of the Party is elected the day after the PP is elected.
Voting takes place via an online poll for 24 hours and is monitored by the Party
President.
Party Council
The Party Council comprises of Party President, Vice-President, Spokesperson on Finance (Treasurer), Spokesperson on Defense (Secretary General) and General Publican (Spokesperson).
The Party Council are inferred the following powers:
Selection of candidate in CP Elections
Determining the final order of Congress Candidates
The Party President may appoint, at their discretion, the Spokesperson on Finance, Defense and the General Publican.
In Congress
The Party Council will not apply a whip system in Congress but:
Where a proposal in Congress is brought by Conservatives Ireland, or is a proposal based on one of the party’s policies the Ceann Comhairle should assume that all Congress members for this party will vote in favor of the proposal.
Where the party is a member of a majority government, or the CP is a member of the party, the Ceann Comhairle must assume that all Congress members for the party will vote in favor of the proposal.
Where a proposal is in direct conflict of one or more of the party’s policies, the Ceann Comhairle must assume that all Congress members for the party will vote against the proposal.
Certain situation may arise where the above 3 exemptions may be over-ridden. Such situations will be assessed on a case by case basis by the Party Council who will make a final decision.
Congress members can vote, on their own merits, on an MPP proposal.
If you like what you hear or consider yourself a Conservative, then join us as we work to build a fairer Ireland. If you like some of what you hear, then join us and talk to us. We're don't expect our members to follow all of our policies rigidly.
If you don't like what you hear, or you think I've gone mad as most of you on the left will, then let me know! You know how much I love listening to people's thoughts.
All the Best,
Elite C

99% import taxes means no foreign products is sold to irish players. foreigners would only buy a market license to trade to specific players. therefore your hurting the irish player as the foreign player will put it into a low import country and he will have to travel or stay in this country to buy from his trade partner,
also this will be heavy trade and you would lose vat on these transactions. in fact you are losing 200 iep today because of that policy.
other than that great idea and article. have you considered running for dictator as we know nogin started her term on day 2940 and her term must end on day 3030 which is in 15 days.
I won't be running for Dictator, I want to put my focus into this for now.
I take your point about Import Tax on board but I'd rather see trading between Irish players in our own market. It would be better for Irish businesses.
import tax hurts the invaders and denies them income from work tax/Vat/Import Taxes, vat and work tax is reduced to the minimum as well so goods are actually cheaper on the irish market for irish players.
Ideally people should sell on other marketplaces via there export licences, this is all standard procedure for wiped/occupied countrys its nothing new and has been going on since the game started.

weird my buyer who asked for supplies didnt buy from me. yesterday he called the government moronic. tomorrow he may join bulgaria and so we drain our country by just acting and not thinking.
Minimum wage increase isn't a good idea, when we should be supporting MU communes.
eIreland is too small to have an active, free-market economy
True...I think the LPA have the only communes left though, do you know any more still active?
no... but we should establish more. together, we are more powerful than seperate
I think that is a good idea...I'll speak to LPA command to see if they want to open them to non LPA members. I, unfortunately, an just a LPA foot solider 😛
Best of luck Elite even if you are all right wingers 😛
Centre-Right to be exact 😛
for WHS, any position right of socialist is fascist lol
hmm if
Winston = left
and
Elite = Centre-Right
I think that puts me somewhere on the moon?
You've just opened your own private party.
and laid out (in detail) the policies your party will abide by.
Making it pretty clear that nobody else will have any real input on your party's policies.
It seems unlikely that you would find many recruits with both the necessary interest in politics to join, and the willingness to submit so fully to dictation.
Meh, you blew your chances by handing power to the ILP, I lost hope on you and felt dissapointed. Good luck with your party though. I hope you realised what ILP is...
Conservatives. Ireland. Both words in the same title. *shudder*
Good luck with this. o7
Good luck with this... the name will not attract many I fear
Nice to see some new organizations around. Good luck with it.
interesting.
I'm not sure why you would leave the IFP to do this...
