We have left EDEN. I explain my S.E.E.S. Congressional vote. -NO-

Day 863, 14:19 Published in USA USA by Candor

Since the vote has become public now, I am free to tell you my thoughts on the issue of departing ways with EDEN.

I voted against withdrawal, at this exact time.

First, let me say that I believe that in things regarding the military, the majority of weight in these decisions should rest with POTUS, JCOS, and DOS. These people’s involvement in the game generally centers on all things war-like. They are up to speed, and in constant communication with their counter parts around the world. I very much respect the job they do for us each and every day. It is enormous, and takes a full-time commitment in game (meaning away from real life).

However, in this EDEN withdrawal, though all three of those entities were in agreement in regards to the withdrawal, being this close to an election made me feel that the choice should involve the input of the next administration. The next Executive will be dealing with the repercussions of this decision.

We were talking about only a few days delay. On day one of the new administration, if all three entities were still in agreement, I would have voted for withdrawal, without reservation.

It was a choice that may have, admittedly, caused great discomfort for the entities mentioned above, as they stood in limbo, not out, but clearly not in, either. That is nothing small, to be sure. However, no serious harm would have come to them, or our nation, by this sacrifice. Their counterparts would have understood the delay through the election for a final decision.

All this said, I have nothing but respect for the choice the majority of Congress has made, and I suggest we spend no serious time debating what is done, and move on to look for our newest, and possibly far greater, opportunities.

I wish the President the best, and the DOS, the JCOS, and the entire Executive branch my thanks for another month of hard work, as always.

Respectfully,

Congressman Candor
