The Fox in the snow

Day 3,343, 14:29 Published in France France by AlI Might

Hello,

The 14th of January is my eBirthday. I've spent the past days having check ups for my eyes's health and it was very boring and stressing me very much. I had no company so I had time to think and I made up a story I felt like sharing with you all.

- I'm going to tell you the story of a Polar Fox living in the snow. He's mostly alone, young and independant. He lives in a little lair he made up, hiden in the rocks near a small mountain. He grew up on his own, having the same days going on and on and on. Getting up in the morning, reordering his little lair, taking care of his fluffy white fur then looking outside at the blue sky and white snow. He used to walk the same way everyday to enjoy the nature and its beauty and trying to find foods. On his way he takes, there is a river he walks along by. He likes it, the conforting and relaxing sounds of the water, the fresh breeze and the reflection of the sun on the water were warming his heart a little for some minutes.

One day, as he started his walk outside, he did not know his life was about to change. He walked through the little rock tunnel, then the plain of snow, met some white bunnies he knows for a long time. Getting to the river, he did something he wasn't used to do, he looked at the other side of it. He used his paws to scratch his eyes as he couldn't believe what he is seeing. On the other side, a Fox was walking with smile on her face. His glance kept locking on her as she was walking along the river. She is beautiful, she has the white brightest fluffy fur he has ever seen, green eyes, a stunning way to be, delightful. Her shapes started to fade away as she kept on walking, he stood up for awhile, all frozen as he was still in shock.

He then went back to his daily routine, as the night was coming, he couldn't stop thinking of this magnificient Foxy he saw. Her image was in his head the whole night, he decided the next day to go out earlier and see whether he was dreaming or it was reality. No need to say, some time after he arrived to the river, he saw her walking along the river again, her beauty is like no other. Shy, the Fox didn't know how to get her attention, she seemed so happy, smiling. He drew a heart with his paw in the snow and started barking softly, the Foxy turned her head and melted as she probably was thinking how cute this is. She barked back at him, they started drawing things in the snow to communicate and bark.

They were meeting each other everyday there, next to this river, sharing things as they could, finding ways to communicate with drawing in the snow, barking, they even played, throwing sticks or little stones. Both were melting at each others, the time was going so fast and they did not want to be apart, they started sleeping next to the river, facing each others being separated by this river that had no end and seemed impossible to cross for a Fox as the water flow was very strong. He took the habit of bark-singing her a lullaby everytime before they sleep, letting her know how much she is important to him and that he'll find a way to cross this river. So, the Fox started to fall for this Foxy and he couldn't imagine a day without her presence in his sight. The way she barks, moves, the way she smiles, laught and giggles. Everything was a charm, everything of her is a reason to love her. Flaws, qualities, everything that was her is what the Fox wants.

Days kept going by, every of them were wonderful, they were sharing about their lives, pasts, things they both like, things they would love to do together, drawing places they want to show to each other in the snow. One day, they met as usual, but something felt different, he felt she was sad. In fact, the way she was, showed she had a weight on her mind, he tried to make her smile at first, he let her know he's there anytime for her. He did not know what was going on, it happened they could have arguement on some thing before, because afterall, life is made this way, it isn't always pink and arguement are needed to be stronger and grow up to be a better person. But the sadness she showed clearly had nothing to do with this. The Fox, worrying, wanted to do everything to cheer her up and make her smile, he also started to try to plan a way to cross the river.

The Polar Bears! He thought. These biggy white bears, if he asked them, could carry him on their back and cross the river. But, how would it be possible to ask a bear for this. And, anyway.. It is the hibernation period, so he had to wait for them to wake up first. He kept the idea in his mind for when the time comes. Weeks passed, the two Fox birdies were meeting everyday. The Fox started to notice the little stars in the Foxy eyes were fading under his words the more the time was going. It was harder for him to make her smile. She was still listening but she showed signs of boredom or less caring. He kept on trying to find new ways to amuse her, everyday he kept on reminding her how important she is.

One day of these cold winter, when he had to go to his lair to make sure everything is ok, he came back to the river a morning, he sat in the snow, waiting for her to appear on the other side as usual. Hours passed, nothing. A feeling of worry and sadness ran through his veins, he kept on waiting and fell asleep at night next to the river. The next day she appeared, he did not ask anything, she had the same behavior as the past days. Followed quite the same situation, one day she was there, the other not. Until a day, that he was waiting laying down in the snow, she appeared and she layed down too, he looked deep into her eyes and noticed the flame, the dazzling glance she used to have when they look at each other, was gone... They both, that night, fell asleep looking at each other, laying in the snow.

The sun, starting to rise, dazzled the Fox has its light woke him up, he opened his eyes, she was gone. Nothing on the other side of the river. The only thing left was her shape made in the snow that he kept on looking till it was filled by the wind blowing snow flakes. And the picture of her face in his head he kept before falling asleep.

She never came back.

Time, kills everything. I hate time. A simple thing that the human invented, created for himself. Kills almost everything. No matter what you do, no matter if it is work related, friendship, family or love related, never let an obstacle setting a gap between you and your goal. Time kills the care, can kill the love, the will, the motivation, the efforts, time erases people's memories and why they got to where they are. Because time, is what will win in the end. And if you are one these persons, like me, who knows how time can change or kill everything, then know that you'll be both blessed and cursed. Cursed because you'll be the only one to remember everything and immunated by the time, blessed because you'll be the only one to bring life to memories and flashes of what you did for your goals.

That's it, have a good day and take care.
