Second Steps
Jacob Ferguson
I want to start by thanking the folks who made my first day back in eUSA a welcoming one. The reaction to my first article here makes all the difference in making this worth it.
To stick with the theme of these archives, I'll go through some of the things I learned on the first day back. I see that there is now an air combat module, but I have not found a way to participate. My understanding is that the key skill needed is perception, but I have yet to find how this is trained, and I don't want to throw away my energy in a battle if it's worthless.
I heard that being present and participating in a Resistance War is a good way to earn gold once I reach level 25 (only one away), but until then, my understanding is that the best way to contribute is to check orders on my MU and contribute where I can. I still understand the importance of not throwing away damage on a lost cause battle, but I'm concerned that there seem to be a lot of those.
Something that is also confusing to me is that some of the orders tell us to fight for the OPPOSITION. Is this correct? Are there land trade deals I'm being asked to be a part of, or are these just incorrectly issued orders? I haven't participated in those out of concern, but I have been putting my efforts into the efforts where we're asked to fight for the US.
I made a chart in a Google spreadsheet to determine which weapons and food are the most efficient use of my money, by determining Food/$ and Damage/$ (taking into account uses), so I don't waste my CRAP funding on inefficient things. If this isn't necessary, I would like to hear from active eRepublikans about how they optimise their time/money.
I've worked for a company paying decently, and I've made sure to produce my weapon and food resources under my holding company the first few days. I should have enough overtime tickets to work double time today for the first time. Taking up residence is an awesome addition to the systems and I'd like to think that I'll be sticking around Richmond for a while. Maybe I'll become Mayor or on City Council once they open that up.
As always, thanks for reading, and if you have any tips for a new/returning player, leave them in the comments below.
EDIT: Notes from D2
- Support Resistance Wars after level 25 for 5G reward (costs $1000, but RWs listed on eUSA feed are guaranteed to win due to Training Wars with allies. To clarify, this means going to a city that is listed in the feed before the listed time, and then waiting until the listed time and refreshing, and then supporting it through an interface option on the home page.
- Buy a Q1 house as soon as possible to start accruing overtime tickets. If Q2 costs less than 8x your salary, buy Q2 as well. Take up residence in a city and activate.
- Respond to the CRAP post daily on the country feed to get free tax refunds.
- Utilize social programs (like CRAP) that are offered by Military Units and Political Parties.
- Start participating in Air Combat ASAP, since it is a vital aspect of New World warfare now. Perception isn't a trainable stat, so disregard for now.
- Upgrade Free Training Ground to Rank 4 when upgrades are on sale. Eventually upgrading the next level of Training Ground to Rank 4 will yield a marginally lower return, but will greatly speed up Strength increases. Since Air battles are more common for folks who aren't elite in combat, this is as far as you should go.
Comments
Plato never gave us the ability to train perception, it's kind of a bad joke that it is even still a visible stat.
Feel free to fly into battle!
Here is a page with some helpful information on air battles; they occur at set rounds during each campaign:

We have no Perception training yet (it was teased a very long time ago and there hasn't been any movement.)
Absolutely keep at least a Q1 house active at all times because you will make more money in overtime work at current market salary than the house costs (currently.) You can occasionally do the math to ensure that's still accurate, but it has been true for a long time now.
Another (very slow) way to gain more gold is fully upgrading your Q2 training grounds, and training on the Q1 & Q2 daily. The Q2 will speed up earning the 'super soldier' medal (5 gold) and pay for itself with a little extra.
Also good to hear you're taking advantage of CRAP daily! Don't miss out on free government cheese!

You might find some good info in these articles.
good luck
1. Air rounds come automatically 1 every 4 normal ground rounds. When you scroll the list of wars, you can see the ones in an air round when you see the wings in the icon between the 2 opponents. There are always many in the world (usually last round is the second air round). No perception in game.
3. Yes, there are many deals between countries, to win one battle for each.
4. I'm rich, I have 3 Q7 weapons factories so I can fight always with a Q7 weapon. They are totally useless if people use bombs, anyway.
What about tip 2
Uhm, about resistance wars and good places to fight, I think every person build a personal strategy.
In addition to CRAP, also take advantage of any mutual-aid programs your party, militia or community has available for newer, less-powerful players. For example, the Bear Cavalry (and other militias too I think) have free tank-supply and energy-supply programs. The SFP (and probably other parties) have house-buy-reimbursement (basically, free housing) programs.
Make damn sure you try to load up on Resistance Hero medals -- 5 gold for each one. They start at scheduled times which you can find in the US national feed.

It's a good way to get free gold, which you can then use to upgrade your training centers, build companies, and buy energy bars to fight.
Yep, someone mentioned that yesterday, but also mentioned I needed to be level 25 to do that? So I'll keep an eye out for that. Thank you!

Well done. The perception thing bummed me out too. The rub is an air flight is the cheapest way to go. Good article.
