Knock it off.

Day 4,845, 04:39 Published in USA United Kingdom by Thee Dude

Hello everyone. Some of you know me, most of you don’t. I came back to this game after a 9 year hiatus during the covid lockdowns. I had only played for a few months back in the day, and was a nobody then. So when I came back I didn’t know anyone and the game had changed, so I had to relearn everything. But over the course of the last 10 months or so I’ve went from a nobody, to now having served in 4 different CP Administrations. I was asked to serve during Krapis’s 2nd term helping post BOs and RWs. I continued with those duties thru Tyler Bubblar and Cthulhu’s CP terms and helped KingTaco as his deputy at DOI. I took over my party’s , WTP, food program in June of last year and I have been running it since. I have served the country as CP Chickensguys Czar of Education/Interior for the last 3 months. I have dedicated my time and effort to this country and this game. I try to be pleasant and accommodating with everyone I interact with, regardless of what PP/MU they are in or what country they are from. That, my friends is how you win hearts and minds. Give selflessly, without thought to personal gain. Treat people with kindness, even when they lash out at you. You get more flies with honey than vinegar. You FEEL me?

I have made friends with many players from across the spectrum of political parties and MUs. When I first talk to someone from another party, they will usually say something like “Gee for a WTPer, you’re a nice guy. I was told you were all A-holes.” True story. Only when we have personal interaction with people do we get the chance to dispel rumor and hearsay. And you can’t do that if you spend all your time calling each other names like your back on the playground. There’s too much partisanship right now. Too much hate based on what group someone belongs to. Please just stop. I believe that some of this is just an extension of the nasty nature of the anonymous internet. Hiding behind an avatar allows people to be as cruel and mean as they want to with practically zero repercussions. We all know that most of the trolls would not act that way in person. If bunch of us met in RL and didn’t know that we played this game, MOST of us would get along. Or at least be respectful of one other. That’s what I am looking from each of us. A little more respect for their follow eCitizen. It’s been my experience that in RL showing someone a little common curtesy and respect goes a LONG way. It can open doors that you didn’t even know existed. So let’s open some doors for each other.

Now there will always be nasty people. That’s just humans. We can’t do anything about that. But we can stop ourselves from becoming a reflection of them by not acting like them. Don’t feed the trolls. “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never harm me”. There aren’t really any sticks or stones in this game, just words. And they only have power, when you give them power. So don’t let the empty words of some internet troll have any power over you. You’re better than that.
And for those of you who like to “roleplay” this game, I get it, it’s fun to pretend that your someone else. And like pro wrestling, some people like to play the Heel. But if you really want to roleplay, go play D&D. It’s better anyway.
None of us are perfect. I’m certainly not. But what do you say we try? And plenty of you do. I want to thank the players who serve this country and the ones who try to keep things from getting too heated. I could give you a list, but my point here is not to single anyone player out for their deeds, good or bad. The experienced players know the cast of characters. New players, just watch how players act in the public spaces, you’ll be able to tell. Look at the players who serve in the Executive Administration term after term, under different CPs and parties. There’s a reason.

And finally let me say, that most of us aren’t what people think we are. As a member of WTP I’ve had great interaction with most everyone in my party. Including the “hated” guys who run it. Players that others despise are actually pretty nice and generous people. I talk to players who my guys think are the worst, and I don’t find that to be the case either. Maybe we tone it down a bit and not assume the worst about people. Again, I know there’s always going to be nasty people, but most of us aren’t. Now let me get down off this soapbox.
