How Your Vote Can Make a Difference on Election Day
Publius
Executive Summary: Vote for Victor Petrescu (Matzanesia Party) in Indonesia during the Presidential Elections on the 5th. It’s a rare opportunity to strike a decisive blow to our biggest adversary and liberate our oppressed friends and allies (Australia, South Africa, and India). Purchase moving tickets today while they are cheap. On the 5th, join the eUS PTO/anti-PTO IRC channel (#ruthless on Rizon) for directions on where to vote to make the biggest difference (in-browser IRC link). I don’t have unlimited funds, but if you can’t afford moving tickets and want to vote abroad, come to the IRC channel and I’ll do my best to sort you out. Also, if you’re interested in more of these actions in the future, sign-up for my movable voting group.
On June 5th, there is going to be nearly 3,000 votes cast in our presidential election. Last election, the incumbent won by over 1,000 votes. The same top two finishers are looking for a rematch this month. Could we please put those 1,000 votes to better use?
The voting system is a powerful equalizer in this game. The other game mechanics—skill, strength, and rank—favour age, experience, and money but, when voting, a Level 6 Private is the same as a Level 21 Field Marshal. Due to our large population, it’s also an area where we as a country hold a significant material advantage over most others.
eIndonesia has extended their empire beyond their ability to maintain political control. Countries that wished to stay neutral (eIndia) were politically taken over (PTO’d) and extinguished so that eIndonesia could have their resources. Countries that dared to fight for their independence (eSouth Africa) were PTO’d and reconquered, divided up, and promised that they would never again reappear on the map. Countries that continually negotiated for their freedom (eAustralia) saw some progress, but were met with constant foot dragging and expired territory return deadlines.
The eRomanians managed the unthinkable on the 25th—they seized control of half of the congress seats in eIndonesia. There’s been some setbacks (some of the congressmen were banned), but they still control a near majority and enough to prevent an impeachment proposal from passing. Seizing the Indonesia Presidency means controlling their country for a month.
Is it not just that we have the opportunity to PTO eIndonesia, the PTO puppet master and land of thousands of clones? Is it not just that we have the opportunity to free countries that have been oppressed by eIndonesia’s empire building? If we have the opportunity to cripple our greatest adversary, shouldn’t we seize it?
I’m disappointed in both Kyle321n and scrabman for failing to come to an understanding and uniting behind one or the other for this month’s Presidential elections. I hope that whoever is losing by noon on election day will drop out of the race and encourage citizens to vote abroad. This is a rare opportunity for us to unite and score a strategic victory.
Action Steps:
1. Purchase 4 moving tickets while they are cheap (it takes two hops to get to eIndonesia)
2. Don’t vote in the eUS (plenty of others will and you can’t vote twice)
3. Do not move until you are ready to vote. (The situation changes on election day, and eSpain or another country might need your vote).
4. Vote as late as possible.
5. Don't waste votes/tickets on assumptions or hearsay. Ona election days, join the eUS PTO/anti-PTO IRC channel (#ruthless on Rizon) for directions on where to vote to make the biggest difference (in-browser IRC link)

PTO's are stupid, and for a neutral country, sticking your nose into the affairs of other governments will only lead to hardships of your own. The backlash should be interesting to watch.
Vote Matzanesia for a Free South Africa
PTOs are a cheap tactic, whether it is the Indos using them or us. Two wrongs don't make a right.
Publius, here's hoping this plan works. I can't leave to vote, I'm in congress, but if you need some extra funds, let me know.
Don't vote to PTO, vote to liberate!
Vote Matza! Help free us!
This will be beneficial. Even if PTO's are cheap, they are effective, if the enemy is using it, then we should be too. eRepublik is not the place to get moral.
Actually, it is exactly the place to get moral and we are. eIndonesia has prosecuted political take overs of other nations based exclusively on the mechanics of the game. It is, however, not unlike the real world US where non-citizens (mostly Mexican nationals) have come to this country through illegal means and been able to vote. 12 million illegals vote in a country split almost 50/50 and they get to decide the election.
Let us fight the tyrants of Indonesia and free the slave states they hold hostage.
Anyone offering gold to do it like with Spain?
ill do it
I'm all for liberating countries who never had a chance to decide on their leaders, even if the game mechanics allow such PTO's. We're not PTOing eIndo in order to ruin them, we're doing it to provide liberty to countries that have been lied to and abused by a shameful shameful empire.
Voted up!
PTO's are a losers way out of being afraid.
If you're going to do something that involves going to another country make it a resistance war, not a PTO.
just a ploy by the USWP to help Scrabman win his election
In RL we kill people who kill people to show that killing people is wrong. Maybe I am misinterpreting but isn't this the same logic?
