How to drink like Bulgarians?

Day 4,467, 04:47 Published in Ireland Bulgaria by DonBobolino

What brings people together the most? Some people may think that this is spilled blood for a common cause. Others - that this is sex during a trip. They are all lying. Alcohol is at the root of all peoples relations. When the two people sit at one table, even if they do not know the language of the other, after the second glass they will begin to understand each other perfectly. Just after the set up, you just had a chance with some pretty Bulgarian woman, like this one:

A small problem for Bulgarian-Irish alcoholic relationships may be the different drinking patterns and the different types of alcohol. That is why I am in a hurry to correct this mistake and teach you

How to drink like Bulgarians

The first thing you need to know is that whiskey is of special respect in Bulgaria. It is only drunk on special occasions when something needs to be celebrated. I guess the reason is the price, which is relatively high, as for Bulgaria - about 20 euros per bottle. Whiskey is usually drunk with coca cola and some nuts, such as almonds and peanuts, must be crunched.

The most popular alcohol in Bulgaria is Rakia (Brandy)

It is an alcohol that is made from fruits - most commonly grapes, plums and apricots. Initially, it is colorless, but subsequently turns yellow when aged in barrels. Industrial Rakia is 40%, but at home it can be as high as 60%.

In the summer, the Rakia is drunk necessarily cold - you can even put it in the refrigerator. Very often people dilute it with 2-3 cubes of ice. In winter, however, the brandy is drunk hot. A spoonful of sugar is placed at the bottom of the pan and when it is melted add the brandy, wait for it to boil and drink while it is hot.

Likewise, drinking is one of the most popular summer drinks

The Mastica

It tastes reminiscent of the Greek Ouzo. This is an aniseed drink with a minimum alcoholic strength of 47%. It is colorless, but when added to it, it becomes white. When cooled in the refrigerator compartment crystals are obtained which indicate that it is ready for use. Of course, the consumption of mastic also goes with the mandatory salads.

Some people prefer to drink Mastica and consume watermelons. I am not a fan of this combination, so I will overlook it.

Very often people make an elementary cocktail by mixing one glass of mastic with one glass of mint. The so-called “Cloud”.

In Bulgaria, Wine is of great honor

I will not explain what this is, because obviously everyone knows. However, I will briefly tell you how to drink in Bulgaria. In the first place, it is almost necessary for the wine to be red.

White is drunk much less often from women. It is important for it to be well chilled, but not icy.

It is drunk with an appetizer. Most often, these are different types of cheeses - in addition to traditional Bulgarian cheese, foreign Brie, Camembert, blue cheese, emmental and others are used. Typically Bulgarian, however, are the traditional sausages for our country, such as sudzhuk, lukanka, parsley and „Elena“ fillet. Some salads are also suitable, the most commonly used so-called „kyopoulu“ - a mixture of ground peppers, eggplant, garlic.

And for the final it is very important to know how to tell your Bulgarian compatriot "Cheers" – „Наздрaве“ is pronounced "Nazdrave".
