Heeeeeere Comes the Crash

If you're a company owner (and maybe if you aren't), you got a message from Plato not long ago.

If you're a company owner, you may or may not be pleased.
If you make raw materials, you should be pumped. More stuff is going to be produced, and more RMs will be required. Hooray!
If you make finished goods, you're hurting, at least in the short term. Let's play with supply and demand!
Ignore the confusing graph, this is simple.
If more stuff is going to be produced, that means supply is going up. There is no corresponding increase to demand, however. This means prices are going to fall. So those 200 Q5 tanks you have in storage? That loud flushing sound you hear is the sound of their decreased value.
Oh, and before you run to the market to sell your stuff before it's too late - it's already too late. Because everybody's thinking the same as you, and they're already running to the market to dump all their stuff.
SPLAT
If ou see this in the next couple hours though, you might as well run to the market to sell your finished goods anyway. The prices are only going to crash more.
Though if you're in raw materials, now's the time to stock on up, because demand's heading skyward.

good article
it says more product will be created in 'upgraded companies'..it looks like to me production of raw will be same, while q5's will get a boost, result: more consumption of raw, cheaper q5
Crash!
Production of raw will be the same, but consumption of raw will go up. Meaning either more raw's going to have to be produced, or prices are going up. Probably both.
Q5 weapons should indeed be cheaper.
The guy with 200 Tanks should just keep them in storage until after the crash. The first few days when people start the firesale is when prices are at their lowest.
@Sir Nick Griffin: Q5 prices will take months to get the value back to anywhere near the prices they are now and many companies will go out of business before that happens.
Good advice and thanks for explaining.
raw prices have fallen much in recent times, so it should stabilize raw market (hopefully, because of more demand and unchanged supply), at the same time due to more supply price of q5 falls.
basically i think it should decrease profit of high q good makers, increase profit of raw makers. this looks balanced to me. lets keep our fingers crossed and watch for tomorrow!
good article. v&s
The crash started when the admins cleared the market forllowing the upgrade to the warehouse as everyone put back on too low

@St George5: None of us do. It changes weekly.
@Devoi😛 Q5 food is worthless now anway, you can still only eat 300 health and now you refill to 100 with one click instantly.
I'll just take my raw mats off of the market.
I'm guessing that the 'increased value' will be additional boosters to the production formula (each Q = 5% or 0.05).
If the health lost in a Q5 company remains higher then it does for lower Q then I too reckon that Q5 food is dead.
Going to be intresting couple of days ahead
Thank you very much for the information, Devoid.

So, how does a company fail when the manager can produce goods for free?

I think you misunderstand. The point of this change was to make it so the same amount of productivity produced more Q5 food (wellness value) than Q1 food (wellness value). This means that Q5 will be more profitable (per wellness) than Q1 food, for the first time. Up until now, the only market for high-Q food was tanks/lazy people who cba to press "eat" 5 times for 10 wellness.
"Up until now, the only market for high-Q food was tanks/lazy people who cba to press "eat" 5 times for 10 wellness."
I think that the time and effort involved in having to keep on going back to top up your incredibly small inventory of 20 slots probably had slightly more 'friction' than pressing the 'eat' button....
well, the 'eat all' thingie on food and the storage truely made Q1 > Q5 food on all aspects... I think that it's somewhere good that q5 has some production bonus, but if it is too high, anyone not able to afford Q4 or Q5 won't be able to make profit at all, pushed back into not being able to manage a company for months 😮
1 q5 will be cheaper than 5 q1.
'1 q5 will be cheaper than 5 q1.'
I don't think it will, because the Q1s will have to match the Q5s on a per-point basis, or else nobody will buy them. So prices won't be higher, profits will be lower for Q1s.
'1 q5 will be cheaper than 5 q1.'
For food, it may will!! Because we have now the magic button to eat 😁
Booya.
I hope to make more money with my Grain Company.
