Final Interview with Aeriadne

Day 4,692, 13:46 Published in USA Chile by Wilker Nath

Ladies and gents, we have a bittersweet interview to conclude this long string of Proud&Horny. Today, we hear from one of our own, a fellow Fed, a fellow eMerican, a fellow human who spent untold hours on this relic of a browser game for unknown reasons, who has recently said goodbye to us all. Today I give you an interview with the late Aeriadne.

But first, some music weather

Aeri, thank you so much for doing this. I know erep probably isn't something you want to spend a lot of time thinking about, but we appreciate it.

It’s not, but it’s you, so sure.

I’ll start off with an easy one. Has your blood pressure thanked you for leaving the game?

It has thanked me greatly. Feels kind of strange in a way, because I really had fallen back into a rhythm. Now 9pm rolls around and I’m like “should probably get a PB goin… oh, right.” But I will say, in the last two days I’ve gotten to play a ton of Among Us with a lot of other friends, and while it’s a stressful silly little game, I’ve felt better and more loved than I have in a long while.

Something that has less to do with the game, now that you’re off erep, I’m sure you have a void where there used to be a significant time commitment. Any thoughts on what you might get into next? Hobbies? Other games?

No clue. As stated previously, I’m big into Among Us right now, and I’ve been watching and encouraging some Twitch streamers. Kind of went on a bit of a charity bender on Monday and dropped like $1k amongst various small time Twitch streamers, just bombing them with like 20 gifted subs. Blew my bank account, but it felt really good. But as of right now? I’m just enjoying one less thing that was making my life miserable, finding some semblance of stability as I approach my thirties at the end of this month.

Because I’m curious, and because I enjoyed your erep writing so much, I want to ask: have you ever done writing outside of erep? Anything professional? Ever thought about getting itno it?

Oh I’ve written a lot outside of eRep. I’m currently involved in writing & game design for both Paizo and a D&D supplement. I’ve written poetry, I was a columnist and editor for my college’s newspaper. I’ve always been the best writer I know, and I’ve thought about getting into it more professionally with like a novel or something but nothing has ever really stuck with me. Maybe the inspiration will come sometime. If not, I’m content with what I’ve produced, even in eRep.

Well, let’s get into some more in-depth questions. Have you by chance read through the articles from Krapis and Shiloh13? And have you seen the latest whpr? (if not I’ll link them here). Do you have any thoughts on them? Any words you want to share with everyone writing and commenting?

Ars longa, vita brevis.

I can certainly understand your decision to leave, and I can respect if you wish to stay gone. But for the many who desperately want you back, I have to ask: is there any possibility to see you in erep again?

None.

Getting close to the end here, so before we let your character fade into the darkness, I’d like to ask: is there anyone you missed the chance to say goodbye to? Anything you want them to know?

Forsan et haec olim meminisse iuvabit.

And one last thing. The reason I was able to contact you is I happened to get your new contact info from a mutual friend. I’m thankful you’d still like to talk to me, but I also know of plenty of people from the game who really miss you, and would like to keep in touch if you gave them the chance. How should these people reach out?

Ask Paul Proteus.

As a final note, all I will say is this: Enjoy the slow death of this game. I won’t be here when the servers shut down for good.

You didn’t deserve me. And I’m sorry it took so long for me to realize that. Not for your sakes.

But for mine.

Stay frosty.

Aeri, thank you again for coming onto the show, and thank you for a great many laughs and good times, both back in the UIP days and in recent months.

I must confess, though your eDeath is only an eDeath, and I do have the means to keep in touch, I did get a bit emotional while drafting these questions. So forgive me for getting soppy with the concluding songs, but here they are. 2 for the price of 1.

This month, we in the eUS have lost much more than a fellow player. We lost more than a former CP and someone who by all means SHOULD be a media mongol. We lost more than a cog in the machine who wrote many many words into the void that is eRepublik. We lost the ability to play a game in a carefree way with one of our friends.

So, dear readers, I invite you to share in a moment of silence as you listen to one or both of the following in memory of time spent together with an amazing human being.

If any of you have anything you want to say to Aeri, goodbyes or otherwise, feel free to PM me or just post a comment here. I will throw crumpled up pieces of paper at her until she reads it make sure she gets the message.

Until next time.
