Europe's Cold War

Day 179, 10:59 Published in USA USA by Desertfalcon

Bucharest, Romania- With Ukraine the fall of Ukraine it seems as if an Iron Curtain is about to be cast upon Europe. With the fall of Ukraine every country left in Europe will be a member of one of the military blocs except for the United Kingdom and Romania. The United Kingdom however does lean toward the Scandinavian Alliance and would most likely take their side in a conflict.

The line has been drawn between the North and the South with the North including the powers of Scandinavia and Norway while the South has Italy, Spain, and Portugal. Tensions are starting to rise now that these alliances share a border in the most war torn region of the world and there has even been an Italian article claiming the Scandinavians will soon invade although the author was not a political leader or anything and nothing official has been presented.

The Alpine wars marked the escalation of the tensions between the two alliances as Scandinavia rushed to send troops to defend Scandinavia while the Mediterranean alliance sent troops to take over Switzerland. Though the game logs it as a war with Switzerland against Italy and France it really was a war between the nations of Scandinavia and the Mediterranean. Now with all the nations of Europe gobbled up into one of these major alliances it seems as though war in Europe will be controlled by the fear of a massive world war directly involving every country in Europe. Although it will only be European nations warring each other it will be world wide in the sense that nations like Pakistan, Indonesia, and the U.S. will send some troops if not automatically entered into combat due to mutual protection pacts.

Both sides are evenly matched here, if war did break out it would likely be a stalemate for about a month until one side either gains a decisive advantage or a peace treaty is agreed upon , either way the costs of this war would be tremendous. The entire Eurasian continent is for the most part fortified, with the weakest nations gone and the somewhat weak nations signing numerous mutual protection pacts a war as small as the Czech republic against Poland could quickly escalate into a much larger war.

On the contrary the American continent has been quite as well as the entire southern hemisphere. South America can easily be called the most peaceful and safe nation of them all as all of their three nations have mutual protection pacts with each other. The same could almost be said with the Americas as a whole as Mexico, the U.S., Argentina, Brazil, and Venezuela all are in a common bloc but Canada has chosen to side with the Mediterranean powers instead. In Indonesia the president there has turned his back on war and even though he could have his country push over Thailand and South Africa he choose to simply ally himself with them which has guaranteed complete peace in the southern hemisphere.

This peace however could be in a bit of Jeopardy due to the situation in Europe. With Norway's only route of expansion without causing a major war being North American and Spain and Portugal's Brazil the nations of Americans may become targets of expansion in the near future. Due to an MPP with the U.K. an invasion by Norway of Alaska is very low but their have been talks of Spain and Portugal annexing Brazil although nothing official has been announced and as far as I know it is mostly rumors (I will check in with the Brazilian president on this).

Even if Brazil does agree to become a colony of Spain it is almost certain that Scandinavia will be angered and send troops to Brazil or Honolulu if the MPP between Brazil and the USA allows them to fight from there, and it is likely the situation will become another Switzerland but this time there will be more land being fought over. Of course Sweden could always sign a MPP with Brazil themselves and make their stance on the possible expansion known to the world.
