Doing it Alone is No Fun

Doing it Alone is No Fun:

You’re right. If I’m going to call people out for not giving our atrocious President an actual campaign challenge, then I shouldn’t sit on the sidelines and just throw stones.

So I’m in. I’ll do it.
I’ll run for President.

I will be the first to admit that I am out of touch with the current government.

I do not have PDB access. I haven’t had it since Gnilraps was President (the good term in October). And even before that, I didn’t have it for most of 2015.

I couldn’t list our top 5 allies. I know we’re chill with Serbia courtesy of Wild Owl. And I know that we’ve fought Chile a few times, both directly and via proxy.

I still think we have Interior and Education Departments (just kidding, I know it’s Citizen Affairs).

So yeah. I have a lot of catching up to do.

But the great thing, is that this is just a browser game. And I’ve been President before. Granted it was four years ago (jesus christ), but being President is still being President. And I was President back when we had titans for Presidents. Artela. Vanek. Cerb. Inwegen. Pfeiffer. GoalieBCSC. Oblige. Fingerguns. Josh Frost. These were pillars of our community. Some still are. Great players who made excellent Presidents.

I remember how it used to be. When publishing less than an article per week was considered a disastrous term. Three WHPR’s per week. eNPR. DoD Orders. Interior and Education articles. Even State publishing.
Media saturation in an effort to keep the community informed and engaged.

We used to keep an article in the First Steps in eRepublik category at all times. Just a list of programs that are helpful to new players.

While I may be out of touch, I played during a period when we were better at the game. We cared a little bit more. We tried a little bit harder.

My lack of access gives me an advantage. I haven’t been wallowing in the depths of the government for the past few years. I’m fresh. I have new eyes. I can look at things without bias, because I wasn’t around when things were changed.

But at the same time, I know what needs to be done. I’ve done it before. I’ve been President twice, Chief of Staff for four Presidents, Secretary of State for two, Press Secretary for three.

If you want to help out, or join the team, shoot me a PM. I have no idea who anyone is. So selecting a cabinet isn’t the easiest thing I’ve ever done.

People keep saying that the game is dying. I’m one of them. And it is dying.

But here’s the rub: it’s been dying since I was PotUS last time. For well over 4 years it’s been dying. And yet, here we are. Still fiercely debating things. Still arguing. So there are people that still care.

And we can do better. One article from our President in an entire term is unacceptable. And I refuse to accept it.

We can do better than that. I know we can, because I was around when we were better.

So let’s turn the clock back a little bit on the United States.
