The reason Victory Bonds are necessary is that we need a large influx of cash and if we are guaranteeing they will be paid back once we get a Congress many of our allies will be willing to end us a hand financially.

I don't think you realize what COs can cost in terms of winning a battle.

You really expect congress to approve a tax increase large enough to repay victory bonds? Just trying to get a modest increase in taxes passed during my term was like pulling teeth.

Yes I do and good luck getting congress to release that as well. I agree with you 100% on this issue of spending on COs and such, but we need a congress that understands that. The last one was dead set against spending money and keeping taxes at minimum rates, period. I still don't understand it.

Well that should be easy enough, Party Presidents can easily just put up Candidates will honor our country's debts. You don't want to pay what we owe so that you can even be in Congress? We won't run you. That will require PPs to actually find out what they people who are running for Congress actually stand for. DMV3 I more or less agree with your platform and etc. BUT the one thing that keeps bugging me is, you're going against the principle of having a congress. What's the point of electing a congress in a democratic way if it's all negotiated with the PP's to only allow certain types of people in there. I mean the point of Congress is to be people's representatives right? How can you say that all (or even most) people are represented if you guys go out and start limiting the choice of candidates. The formation of Congress is no business of the CP (with exceptions made during a PTO and such). My point is, you always seem to come a bit off about these things, kind of like you do not understand why Congress and the Government should be different (at times opposing) entities. It's a balance thing.

Now before I get called naive and stamped as not knowing how the game practically works, I just want to say a couple of things. Sure the game doesn't go by the rules of the real world, I completely agree with that. And in practice it usually looks like there isn't much difference between being a congressman or a member of a cabinet. Even though this game tries to run a facade of being democratic, it usually ends up being more of a dictatorship. But starting to limit elections based on the will to implement your policies or get the people to do what YOU want, goes a little bit beyond my acceptance of dictatorship.

Not even getting into how this bond buying is a money-maker for the rich (since they have cash to buy it). While it leaves the poor people totally helpless. They cannot get any use from the government funds, since those are being spent to pay back the rich and also the possibility of them disagreeing will be eliminated with agreeing on who should be in congress and who should not.

Victory Bonds are less about raising money from the Canadian people and more about trying to raise it from our allies.
Most Canadians are broke, I know I am since you know I spent 200k on COs to kick the eUS in the balls last month. The point yet again is if we want to keep fighting we need funds and anyone who stands in the way of that is not a friend to the war efforts.

Canada cannot be funded by game show promises and faerie dreams either. It is dangerous to spend money not yet in your "pocket." You would spend our last tarnished copper pre-emptively on financial strategies that may or may not work.

Selling "Victory Bonds" is the same thing as soliciting donations, except there is a deferred cost. Donations are the only sure way to gather actual, spendable money without dipping into the reserve that we will need later and screwing Future eCanada should we manage to attain freedom.

500,000 CC is not a great deal of money when we are fighting against the eUSA. They spend that much on a single battle, and they have plenty left to conquer all the rest of eCanada. It is asinine to pre-emptively spend that money on COs - save it for when we have our lands back and need to renew our relationships with our allies. They have been paying for our MPPs, and we will need to make good on that.

There are essentially two kinds of people in eCanada. The people who never, ever donate to anything won't bother with your Victory Bonds - perhaps they need their money now, or they never have enough to make a difference, or they don't give a damn about charity, or they don't bother with the media and do not realize there is something they can do. The people who will buy Victory Bonds are the ones who donate money all the time anyway, because they have a great deal of it to begin with. There are a fair number of this sort, but they often give with no expectation of a return on some investment.

Victory Bonds are not about getting eCanadians to donate, Victory Bonds are more of a way to guarantee we can pay back allies who would be willing to lend us money for the war effort. The fact is I am personally willing to spend a good deal of my own money on the war effort, but it would not be enough without being able to raise money through War Bonds. So needless to say why would I throw 250k in cc of my own at the war if the Canadian people can not even be convinced to spend 500k in reserves to fund the war effort? The fact is my money costs real life money and the reserves cost us nothing. So tell me why those of who are willing to give should spend real life money if Canada isn't willing to spend money that we have sitting around.

Because we DO NOT HAVE IT. It is not "sitting around," it is locked until we have a congress. A REAL congress, not your faerie-dream pretend congress.

Your "fellow" eCanadians are perfectly willing to give without mortgaging our pipe-dream future. You are not the only one who spends his own RL money to finance battles and such. Others do the same and do not demand a fraction of the attention you do for it. Dill has quietly funded his entire MU, out of his own pocket. He doesn't post in the news feed every time he does it. He doesn't flash cash whenever it buys him popularity points. He doesn't ask us to kiss his ass because he pulled out his credit card.

More importantly, he doesn't promise away our future with wishes and dreams. The money isn't yours to spend until we have a congress - in effect, it does not exist. And even then you must get approval.

Xander, the voters will decide what we do, if they elect me they elect me knowing what I plan on doing. If they don't approve I'm sure they will vote for Dill.

For The love of God Research before opening your mouth. A simple look on his profile Will tell you that He is both an MU Commander and the Previous CP Of a small and Frequently wiped Country. As a previous CP Of the same country I can tell you He knows what COs cost.

On the other hand we should consider the logistics of paying back dozens of bonds. Will we be able to keep track of them all? Will we owe more then we can pay back? Is there any guarantee of Congress with this plan?

You realize a CP medal means exactly nothing in terms of knowledge, there are plenty of CPs who do not know mechanics of the game and there are plenty of MU Commanders that have never run COs.

Creating a Google doc for bonds is easy enough, and while technically we could issue more bonds than we could pay back, I do not plan on using War Bonds to generate more than 500k cc. Throw in another 250k+ that I am willing to contribute and we have a very decent war chest that we can use against the Americans. Plus people will still be able to donate as well.

Is there a guarantee of Congress? No, but we only came up one region short with just the 200k I spent last months so you can do the math there.

However, if you want to do math, compare your 750k proposed war budget against what the Americans can rally and throw back at us. Then factor in that, even if we manage to use that money well and claim back everything in one fell swoop, we will have nothing left in the tank, and they will easily be able to fund a third consecutive wipe.

Having a congress is irrelevant. Your willingness to spend your own personal money is irrelevant. Whatever we have, they have far more of it and wish to use it against us.

That is what we are fighting.

Xander you do not realize that regardless of what they have they are spending way more than their Congress would like to hold regions they could rent for a fraction of the price. Assuming they only matched us dollar for dollar on COs and spent nothing more that's 2 years worth of rent for those regions. Believe me they'll get tired of paying that steep of a price for their bonuses. But what do I know? I've only actually worked with these people and spent time in their government.

Go to eSwiss and legitimately try to get them a stable long-term position on the map, then get back to me.

So instead of trying to think outside the box and figure out another approach, you would rather give the enemy exactly what they want - our complete financial devastation beyond the occupation, because we will have to pay our allies back somehow.

I seem to recall a while back when your supporters mocked me for suggesting that a CP with malicious intent might try to drain the treasury. Here you are attempting to do just that. Let's pretend it is about how much the eUSA is willing to spend to keep us crushed. Let's say your big push, having spent every cent from the treasury plus 250k of your own, gets us all of our regions back due to some miraculous intervention of the entirety of LETO and Asteria. Let's say this unlikely success earns us a congress, and congress okays your debts, and liquidates the treasury to pay your bill. What then prevents the eUSA from invading for a third time, when we are all the way in the hole and cannot afford to re-sign expired MPPs or make deals with allies? How much would that cost them? How much will occupation cost them when we have no means to start RWs except through private funding, exactly as we do now?

If they are so concerned about the cost of keeping us occupied, and if that concern will eventually be enough to drive them from our lands, why bother promising to bankrupt us when we gain our freedom?

At this point, it is so useless trying to show you the obvious errors in your reasoning. I only do so because I feel morally obligated to point out to my countrymen that you mean to do them harm, whether they wish to see it or not.

Xander, here is the problem with your logic just because we have the ability to raise money does not mean that anyone is going to spend it all in one military venture. The fact is a war fund buys us options we would not otherwise have. I'm not sure if you're being purposely naive, but the idea is to be able to be able to leverage our freedom or to have options we do not currently have to make the enemy think twice about attempting a protracted wipe.

Before I get started, allow me to mention that I've probably spent my own 500k cc supporting RW's, giving to others to support RW's, paying for MPP's, miscellaneous debts and various other doo dads that there was no money for. Don't cry because you've spent a wad on CO's out of your own pocket. Pickle's Patriots has also donated a considerable chunk of Q7 here and there. People that have give or they get off the bus.

Dennis says there is that much tied up in the treasury. (I'm not questioning the amount BTW.) The last Congress DID NOT approve of that gold being cashed in and spent. A good portion of the gold WAS turned into cc and spent for the war effort. The general consensus was that we didn't need to see if we could spend it in one fell swoop.

A loan is a contractual agreement between two or more parties. A bond is a bearer devise denoting the funding of some public project. Not exactly the same thing but I suppose in a fantasy RP world where it's all 1's and 0's flying about on wire and fiber optics I will give you that one.

All I've ever publicly mentioned is that I will fund RW's and MPP's until the cows come home. I would rather spend the gold I buy on that than EB's. It does a lot more damage to start a Baja or Poitou Charentes than 10k worth of EB's (full cost of 10 people supporting a RW compared to 20 x2 EB's). For the record (sense we're waving our ePeins about) I usually get AT LEAST 100 EB's when there's a special. That's usually enough to last me 2 round of heavy tanking.
