Maoris may have signed a treaty with the British in 1840.
Kiwi Women may have been the first in the world to vote in 1893:
Children may be safer from violence since 2009.
New Zealand might be celebrating marriage equality since 2013.
But we're both still stuck with the same flag, more or less.

The flag they were putting up as the new one was not all that good.... no wonder it did not get up the pole.

True. The process was flawed. Not enough public input into the short-list aside from that one protest over the triangle one missing out initially. Plus all the protest no votes over it just being a smokescreen for bigger problems. Still it nearly came close.
