Clopoyaur's stream - 1500 followers HYPE party

Day 3,351, 17:30 Published in Romania Romania by PRINTSY

So many times we do things because we don’t have a choice. Or we do them because we are used to even though we don’t like them. Just because it’s what we are familiar with, it’s our comfort zone and we don’t have the courage to change something. Even the smallest amount of unknown variables scare us. However, there are times when we want to test ourselves, to see what we can do in some situations, to see how good we are at something or we just want to do something crazy, out of the ordinary.

That being said, one could think that streaming eRepublik 24 hours out of 36 might sound really crazy especially when your life doesn’t depend on it. Did anybody do that? Why would somebody do such a thing? What would that person gain? And so many other questions could come into your mind. Some of them crossed my mind as well, so I watched most part of that stream to find some answers.

So this is what happened in Romania in the last 36 hours. (Disclaimer: Since I’m extremely new to this game and I really don’t know the people involved, I might make some errors if I refer to the game – which I might avoid altogether)

There is this guy that calls himself Clopoyaur. He has a show on Beam where he streams eRepublik and some other games that I know nothing about. Actually, for sure most of you might know him better than I do. 🙂 What happened was that he reached 1500 followers on Beam this week and he wanted to do one of those out of the ordinary things that people usually postpone or find excuses for not doing because it’s more comfortable to stick to the daily routine. He decided to stream as much as possible this weekend and he did it. Around 24 hours in total on Saturday and Sunday, with a constant number of at least 70 people watching, going up to more than 100 viewers repeatedly during the two 12 hours sessions of streaming.

I would say that this is the most important event that happened in eRomania (is it called like that in the game? Omg, I should do something to learn the elementary stuff around here) no matter how important the battles in which our country was involved, no matter how good I don’t know what division proved to be and regardless of the political problems that the country might have (does eRomania have political issues? I know nothing about it. Excuse my ignorance, please)

“Are you crazy, girl? What does it matter what this guy does?”, you might say and I wouldn’t blame you for it. I wouldn’t care less what somebody else does with his/her time. However, things are a little different when I hear about passionate persons or about people that strive to improve themselves or test their own limits or succeed in gathering a nice community around them. This would make me curious enough to spend around 17 of those 24 hours watching this guy’s show and reading what 70 to 100+ people wrote on that chat. I might have considered it a test for myself. Put it this way: would you be able to stay in front of your laptop watching some guy talking and talking and talking, no, seriously, really talking for 12 hours and doing it again the next day? I don’t have a lot of patience and I lose interest easily, so yeah, I gave it a shot wanting to see whether I’d be able to do that or not. And ok, I fell in love with Myaura’s (his cat) paws emoticon. And I’ll confess, he looks sexy with that beard. Ok, ok, I’ll admit I even laughed at some of his jokes.

On a more serious note, for me this wasn’t just another stream or just a guy that had nothing better to do with his weekend. For sure this wasn’t about a person that does something for money (as one or two have implied. Do your homework, guys!). This wasn’t just about the giveaways. This wasn’t just about eRepublik. This definitely wasn’t about wasting time. This was about what passion and acting accordingly can bring in somebody’s life. This was about having fun with people from all over the world gathered in a virtual room because of Clopoyaur. This was about a great community . This was about taking a break from the Matrix and just being there and enjoying the show, the music, the games, somebody’s wonderful voice singing for us live from the other side of the planet. This was somehow crazy and different and for sure it will not happen again soon. That is why it was special. Being able to share your joy with other people must be great. Actually, I should interview Clopoyaur and find out exactly how great it is (damn, this is a good idea for a future article. Was it done before by the Romanian press? 😃 ) And yes, this must have been difficult. Just give it a try recording yourself on your laptop trying to talk for at least 30 minutes, make a joke or two, read something while talking (a chat would be perfect), try to answer some questions, get back to your ideas and so on. Doesn’t sound too easy to me.

I’m so new to this eRepublik game. I hate politics and wars, but I was curious and wanted to try. Not doing so great at it, but I don’t care. I might play it for 2 more weeks, another 3 months or maybe 1-2 years. This is not important, really. What’s important for me is what I saw on that stream. People playing together, having fun, being a community. That is why I consider this the main event that happened in eRomania this weekend. If one citizen of Romania was able to gather around him people from all over the world (is he some kind of an ambassador? Does this game even have ambassadors? ) no matter on which side they fight in eRepublik, it gives you hope.

Doing what you love gives you energy to keep on going no matter how tired you might be or how difficult it might become. Don’t settle for ordinary, don’t settle for your daily routine, don’t give up the things that you really like and make you feel good about yourself (well, yes, that includes chocolate, too, but ONLY if you don’t feel guilty after eating it).
We are here only once (or at least this is what we know), so I’d say let’s try to make the best of it. It seems Clopoyaur did something like that this weekend and I’m happy for him.

Another disclaimer: I’m writing this article thinking that in eRomania we have freedom of speech and I can write about whatever and whomever I want, so hopefully Clopoyaur won’t sue me. Just to stay on the safe side, I will not post links for his profile or his stream unless he allows me to do so. 😁

I'm on the safe side, it seems, so here it is:
