I. SITUATION REPORT –
Australia continues to regain territories from Indonesia which were lost in the Indonesia-Australia War of April 2008 (see below, section IV) and things seem to be going well in the handovers. The Australian economy remains in a relative protectionist state with 99% tariffs on nearly all imports except oil (at 5😵 which is scarce with their only oil producing territory of Western Australia, still under the control of Indonesia. Weapons, wood and iron are at a slightly lower import tax rate of 45-50%. Australian local income tax is relatively modest at 10% and the nation continues to have no active MPP’s.

Prominent Australian Ranger Bob was temporarily banned, but has since been reinstated. He is the newly appointed Australian Minister of Defence (see below, section III).

II. PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS –
Aussie Vegeta of the Australian Democratic Socialist Party was elected to the Australian Presidency with 211 votes (50.6😵 beating out Australian Nationalist Party candidate Xavier Griffith who ended up with 175 votes (41.97😵. The Australian Democratic Socialist Party is the largest party in Australia with 245 members. It controls 27% of Congress and holds 10 seats.

IV. TERRITORY HANDOVER –
On June 12, 2009 the territory of Tasmania was returned to Australia by Indonesia (via a RW) per the Australian-Indonesian Region Return Agreement, leaving only South Australia and Western Australia under Indonesian control. South Australia is the next territory scheduled to be returned to Australian control, supposedly within the next week barring any complications.
