War of Alpine Nations Breaks Out
Bern, Switzerland- The dream of a peaceful utopia in the Alps is Switzerland has crashed and burned. Today the presidents of both Italy and France have proposed war against Switzerland after Switzerland made an alliance with Norway, one of the Scandinavian powers. The thought of having to share a border with an ally of Scandinavia must have been too much for France as soon after the proposal was made for war, Italy soon followed suit.
The Alpine wars have created a major first in the world of Erepublik. For the first time we will see two countries invade the same country jointly. Should the two nations end up trying to take the same territory at once it remains unclear as to which nation would receive the region should the attackers win, we will have to wait and see how the system handles this. Most likely we will not get to see that situation play out as Italy will likely take all their bordering regions in the first day. The only region in Switzerland they can not attack due to geographical regions is the only region France can attack for geographical reasons. So in essence these armies will never meet on the field of battle unless Switzerland can pull a hat trick and win a greatly uphill battle. Currently it looks like Italy will grab three regions and France will gain one.
Another first for this war is that it may be the first time a nation is completely conquered within the first 24 hours of warfare. Due to the relatively small size of Switzerland every region ends up bordering another country. With France and Italy both invading no region is safe from invasion the first day. All though the Swiss have a large percentage of experienced immigrants in their population who are active and well trained, they just can not match up with the vast size of the Italian armies and to a lesser extent the French.
This is most certainly a statement war by the Mediterranean powers. The Scandinavian powers have begun to get too comfortable in mainland Europe and the Mediterranean powers of the south will do anything to stop the spread of Scandinavian influence in Europe. Ally with us or perish seems to be the policy of the Mediterranean powers as tensions rise between them and Scandinavia.

Well, I think this is incredibly interesting, but I hate being the target of a massive invasion. Considering we were seeking MPPs with them, and they are attacking a nation of refugees, I find this incredibly low.
(Also, just for the sake of correctness, France called for war first, followed by Italy)

If anyone wishes to help defend Switzerland, please move to Bellizona, as this is the most likely region to survive. Norway, Sweden and the UK are moving here, soon we will also set up a Q3 hospital to heal battle wounds...
