A good Yule and merry Christmas
Vincent Pain
"Christmas" is a Remain of paganism, christmas is even soaked with it ...
An important pagan symbol is especially the Christmas tree. Just as the Oak was the most sacred deciduous tree of our ancestors, the Den remains the most honored needle carrier. A tree in which the gods took up residence. Many also claim that the reason why we place a pine tree at Christmas comes from Tanfanæ, a goddess who was honored with a pine in the old pagan times. She was not only associated with pine trees, but also with water. Little is known about her, but in Ommen they found a stamp in 1336, which showed a woman with a fir branch, a sun symbol, a feline shape and a bird, so that she could be regarded as a rendition of the mother goddess of the pagans. That the pine is associated with the feminine is not new. It is the tree that was dedicated to Freya, the goddess of love and fertility. It is also plausible that the Christmas tree is a symbol of the tree of life. Yggdrasill is after all described as a tree that always had to be green and with its roots included heaven, earth and hell.

Good article. If you want to go even further back look at the book of Jeremiah Chapter 10
Hear ye the word which the Lord speaketh unto you, O house of Israel:
2 Thus saith the Lord, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.
3 For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.
4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.
5 They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good.
In ancient Greece people celebrated at 25th of December the birth of Dionusos,
guess what,he was born from a virgin, did miracles, was the good guy of the story, died and resurrected etc.
They also celebrated Sun the god, that brought light to humanity..

The Stag
Sadly, I don’t have a stag in my garden. But this noble animal with his heavy crown of antlers takes my breath away with his grace and power. Recently, he has become very popular as a symbol of Christmas, but this should not come as a surprise.
Cernunnos, the Horned God, sometimes known as Herne the Hunter, is a Celtic deity depicted on the Gundestrop Cauldron with a stag at his side. This may indicate that he could shift between the forms of stag and man at will. He is thought to be a God of peace, nature and Lord of all wild things. Cernunnos was linked to the ancient Germanic mid-winter festival of Yule, a celebration of the Wild Hunt in which a spectral group of huntsman raced across the frozen winter sky. In Ireland, it was said to be Fionn mac Cumhaill leading his Fianna in the Wild Hunt.
A white stag was thought to come from the Otherworld and signified dramatic life changing events.
