A couple definitions, in the context of eRepublik foreign relations:
Neutral: Choosing no side, with the intent of not making enemies; having neither friends nor foes.
Non-Aligne😛
Choosing to remain outside of alliance power struggles, with the intent of not making enemies out of them; engaging individual nations in any or no alliance remains an option.

Apparently, I don't get it .....
We can hang out with Serbia and we can hang out with the US. We can be buddies with both, as long as we don't decide to go punch one in the face.
This. This is what people need to understand.
While eNZ is developing, being non-aligned will definitely help. That way, the primary focus can be on developing the nation, as opposed to appeasing the super alliances.
Neutral would mean that we wouldn't be at war with anybody, because we'd be....well, neutral. Then we could all marvel at how peaceful and civilized we are until most of the population quits/moves out of boredom and all we have left are some obnoxious RPers.
I don't know if we could be cozy with USA *and* Serbia at the same time, but I think anyone can see your point. Voted.
It would be hard to balance our relationship with each country, in order to make sure we don't piss one off, but it wouldn't be impossible.
the last known "non-aligned" country - eIndia has recently been obliterated.

Devoid, i don't know. I just don't like the idea of "hanging out" with those who have been our enemies for so long. If we are to remain neutral, we should remain pro-eden. I mean, we can't be completely neutral... Who will we fight? Erepublik revolves around war
I prefer neutrality until at least after the presidential elections.
Long term I'd hope to see us in the unalligned category unless one of the alliances pisses on our bonfire first.

We are no longer in our home countries anymore people, don't allow your petty dislikes or squabbles or biases or hatreds tint your decisions. Only through unity as people are we gonna be able to survive

You may find it difficult to be friendly with certain countries if you still think of yourselves as being part of an old country - you are New Zealanders, not Americans or Aussies
btw, Ireland were non-aligned for quite a whilebut half of their country were in the US military

Seriously, ain't nothing wrong with non-aligned, not that different from neutral I guess. But we should strife to gain friendships with countries, either non-aligned themselves or in an alliance. So we still have an unofficial guarantee of protection and trade partners (for how far possible in this game). And some war to enjoy ourselves. That's at least what I think.

You're basically describing exactly what it means to be non-aligned. It means don't join either super-alliance, but still get invovled, and ally/trade with other individual countries from both alliances, and even countries not in either alliance.
I voted, partly because I agree, and partly because those smilies made me rofl pretty hard.

Non aligned the way to go. And people forget your previous enemies for goodness sake we're a new country we have no enemies at this point.

Being neutral or non-aligned will create an era of everlasting idleness.
And you really cant say that they will be friendly with you even if you are non-aligned.
Well to be fair, Thomas, if we start off as non-aligned, we'll gradually fall in step with one of the major alliances, either through us helping other countries in a particular alliance, or them helping us. There's nothing wrong with being non-aligned for the time being, since there are more pressing issues to be addressed.
