[VP] Information on Andes

Day 3,703, 12:55 Published in Ireland Ireland by King Trito Fisher
Citizens of the Republic,
This is my first article as your Taoiseach this term. In it, my goal is to provide an objective view of eIreland's possible role in the Andes Alliance. This is part of the current government's goal of having a referendum in around a week that will determine whether or not the people of eIreland wish to join the Andes Alliance. I am going to list possible advantages and possible disadvantages of our joining Andes, and an equal number of each.
Advantages
1. Increased Activity
Being a member of an alliance allows us to increase our activity at home as well as on the geopolitical scale. We'll have increased communication with our allies and more in common for more fun.
2. More Passion
Being a member of Andes will allow us to play the game somewhat as it used to be, when alliances really, really mattered (before CO's). Brotherhood, friendship, fraternity, these are the values that will be promoted, should we accede. We will help our allies, and they will help us. One for all, and all for one!
3. Better Military Position
We are currently under an occupation by a member of Asteria, so it is exceedingly difficult to attempt a single-handed liberation, especially when it is apparently Asteria policy to keep us perma-wiped. Acceding to Andes gives us a stronger image in the eWorld, with our explicit allying with powers like Chile and Argentina. In addition, our help for them will be noticed, as it becomes more focused and powerful through alliance communications.
Disadvantages
1. eIreland becomes a Target
As an official member of an anti-Asteria alliance, we may become targets of future Asterian attacks. An example of such recent attacks is the occupation of Chile and Argentina by Poland, Serbia, and Macedonia. Although Chile and Argentina are strong countries, militarily, they had to work hard to liberate themselves.
2. Predominantly Spanish-Speaking Alliance
Although eIreland is home to people from a variety of RL countries, who speak a variety of languages, we have chosen to use English as the primary language of discourse as a matter of ease. Andes is an alliance, currently, of only South American countries, and naturally, they speak Spanish (Brazil is not a member). This may make communication difficult, although it is necessary to point out that all of the MoFA and primary country officials of those countries have an excellent proficiency in English.
3. More Work
Yes, this could be a disadvantage. eIreland only has around 50 active players, many of which are 2-clicking. It may be more difficult for those "in charge" to maintain eIreland's status as a member of Andes, when there are so few people willing to put in the time.
More Information on Andes
This information comes directly from YosemiteSam, Secretary of Foreign Affairs of Andes:
"There is no 'trial period' for new members. I must also tell you that our alliance is based on three pillars:
1) Military Alliance
2) Common foreign policy
3) Common historical and cultural background."

In addition, Yosemite tells the current administration, in preliminary talks, that the alliance HQ will decide whether they would accept our application in the following weeks.

Thank you,
VP Trito Fisher
