[PotUS] The Birth of Something New

My fellow Americans,

For a long time, the United States has been forced to yield to the will of EDEN. For much of our history, this has been a good thing. We have seen great prosperity, but we have also seen how Euro-centric the alliance can be. We have been forced to play the role of servant, rather than take control of our own destiny. We have gotten dragged into endless Balkan Wars, where there has never been a clear victor. One week Croatia rules, the next they are wiped by Serbia. These wars mean little to Americans, and do not serve to further our own cause.

We will never forget the assistance that our friends in Croatia, Romania, Greece and many other EDEN nations did for us.

But yet, we cannot exist to serve them. We cannot allow ourselves to be defined by EDEN. We must strike out on our own path.

There was a time, when great diplomats sought to remove the United States from Europe. To stop our nation from getting dragged into wars we had no stake in. From that desire for freedom, came the alliance known as Terra. It was comprised primarily of North and South American nations, and sought to recuse ourselves from Europe’s struggles.

We partnered with some of our oldest enemies, Brazil and Argentina and Russia. Nations that we had fought glorious battles against, suddenly became our friends. There was a great deal of resistance to the alliance at first. But now, Brazil is one of our strongest allies. Russia remains one of our closest friends, and relations with the Argentinians have remained strong.

There can always be change, if you are willing to accept it.

In that vein, I am very pleased and honored to announce that about an hour ago, the United States Congress formally ratified the Charter for the CTRL Alliance. The United States once again steps into the forefront of an alliance, and I look forward to the battles that we will fight with our new and our old allies.



This Alliance has existed informally for roughly two months. It brings together four of the world’s foremost superpowers. Two from ONE and two from Terra. The nations of Spain and Poland will join us, and our long time ally Brazil in the formation of this new alliance. We have drawn from two completely different sides to create something unique. Something different. Something that can stand alone.

Although this Alliance is in it’s infancy, you can already see the impact we will have on the world. Polish and Brazilian tanks showed up to fight for the United States against FYROM. And even as our own lands were under invasion, we gave everything we could to fight for Spain against Portugal.
We have already seen successes from this alliance, even though it is just now becoming formal. Imagine what we will be able to do now.

But I thought Spain and Poland were enemies!?
They were. Just like Russia, Brazil and Argentina were once our enemies. But Spain and Poland were also some of our best allies, many years ago. This is a game, and in it, things change. Spain and Poland are ready to break away from the Balkans. They are tired of being controlled by Serbia and Hungary and wish to form something new.
We are all sick of being ruled by the Balkans.

Does this mean we will sign MPPs with Serbia and Hungary?
No. I cannot state this enough. The United States of America, so long as we remain free from PTO, will NEVER sign MPPs with Hungary nor Serbia. We are not becoming part of ONE. We are creating something new. Something that can and will exist on it’s own. Free from using EDEN as a crutch, and from the control of ONE. We will have CTRL over our own destinies.

I see that Spain and Poland still have Serbian and Hungarian MPPs.
You would be correct. This is still a time of shifting relations. Many nations are going through growing pains similar to ours. All I can say, is to be patient. There are MPPs that both the United States and Brazil have, that our allies are not overly thrilled about. This is not something that gets fixed overnight. Spain and Poland are committed to CTRL, as are Brazil and the United States; and that is all that matters at this point.

Why are we forsaking our old allies?
We aren’t, per se. But we are striking out into new territory. Alliances shift in this game, it is a fact. We will not forget all that EDEN and Terra have done for us, and I would hope that they do not forget all that we have done for them.

So we’re going to attack Croatia and Romania now?
No. Croatia and Romania still remain valuable friends in the fight against the remnants of ONE. But we will not serve them as we once did.

I know that this is going to be a confusing time. All I ask, is that you are open to change. Open your minds to new ideas. Open your minds to new friends. Open your mind to new frontiers.

If you want Spain and Poland to be committed to the United States, then you must be committed to them as well. We cannot expect them to sacrifice everything for us, if we are not willing to return the favor. Hold yourselves to the same expectations that you hold our new allies to.

This alliance is going to do great things. We are going to be able to live in a world where we are not bound to fight in the same old cyclical battles. New horizons await us.
