[MoC] Winstgevendheid van trainen / Profitability of training
SO_HelpdeskNL
[English below]
Harde werker medaille & dagelijkse taken

Everybody starts out with all training grounds at Q1. In this article, I’ll discuss recommended upgrade paths, and the (reasonably) profitable combinations of training grounds.
I assume everybody is working for an employer every day, so that they also complete the Daily Tasks, and get a Hard Worker medal every 30 days. The gold from this is also included in the calculations. I do not include any other medals or sources of income, so you may be able to upgrade slightly faster than this.
Hard Worker medal & daily tasks
Working (at least) once every day provides you with income (or weapons if you work in a commune). But it also awards you with a Hard Worker medal every 30 days, and allows you to complete your daily tasks.
The hard worker medal is worth 5 gold every 30 days, so that is 1/6=0.166… gold per day.
The daily tasks are worth 1 strength per day for every first 4 days, and 5 strength on every fifth day. So that is 9 strength/5 days, which corresponds to 1.8 strength per day on average. Strength also is worth gold, via Super Soldier medals. The strength from the daily tasks corresponds to 1.8/250*5=0.036 gold/day.
So in total, you get 0.2026… gold per day, independent of the combination of training grounds you use. But note that to get this gold you also need to train. However, the cheapest option for training is free, and will also award you with some gold via Super Soldier medals, so this should not be a problem.
Training
I’ll start with the recommended upgrade path, and will then proceed with a table containing the profitability of the combination mentioned in the upgrade path. Upgrading training grounds is recommended when there is a discount, which is why I have listed the discount prices in this article.
In the following figure, the combination of training grounds you own is represented by the four qualities in the following order (left-to-right): Weights Room (free), Climbing Center (0.19 gold), Shooting Range (0.89 gold), Special Forces Center (1.79 gold).
In this upgrade path I stop when the first 2 training grounds are at Q4, and the last 2 are still at Q1. This is an important intermediate point to reach, as this corresponds to maximum profit from the training grounds. After reaching this state you can proceed to upgrade the last two to Q4, but typically training in them will only become useful when at least the special forces center is at Q4 and a training contract is used. And even in these cases your profit will go down. However, as soon as you get to that point, strength is also important to boost your battle performance. In case you are there already, this Training calculator is a useful tool.
The following table illustrates the strength per day, the training cost, and the profit you can get with all of the combinations listed in the above table. Red training grounds are not used, the orange and green training grounds are used. The green training grounds are recommended to be used, orange is a neutral recommendation. The extra strength may be worth the lower profit, but I’ll leave that completely up to you. You can also decide to go for maximum profit, which basically boils down to taking the leftmost path in the upgrade path above.
Including the gold from the hard worker medals, and super soldier medals due to doing the daily tasks the maximum profit you can get from training and working once per day is 0.6126… gold per day.
Time needed to get the first training grounds to Q4
In practice before upgrading training grounds you’ll wait until a discount comes along. For simplicity, I forget about this fact in the following calculation. But I also forget about True Patriot and Battle Hero medals. In practice, I think that because of this you’ll be able to do it a bit faster than I discuss here. I will take the leftmost upgrade path, as we’ve seen that one’s the most profitable.
Getting the first training ground to Q2
As we’ve seen, you start the game with a daily profit of about 0.3026… In order to get to 11 gold, you’ll need around 37 days. That matches with the day you get your first Super Soldier medal. The only problem is that 1 gold is from the hard worker medal, which still takes 24 days to get… So you’ll need to get 1 gold another way, for example via our forum registration bonus (250 NLG), or by borrowing it from an older player. In general, quite some players will be prepared to borrow you a small amount of gold so that you can upgrade your training grounds during the discount period.
Getting the first training ground to Q3
With the first training ground at Q2, you have a daily profit of 0.4026… A similar calculation shows that in an additional 68 days you should have the needed 27.5 gold. So roughly 3-4 months after starting the game you can get to Q3 for the first training ground.
Getting the first training ground to Q4
With the first training ground at Q3, you have a daily profit of 0.5026… To get to 55 gold, you’ll need around 109 days. So roughly 6-7 months after starting the game you can get to Q4 for the first training ground.
Getting the second training ground also to Q4
In order to keep the maximum profit, I’ll do the calculation here by upgrading the second training ground in one go to Q4. In principle it may be better to upgrade it gradually (when there is a discount) because the extra strength will be worth it.
In any case, going from Q1 to Q4 costs 93.5 gold. So at a profit of 0.6026 per day that takes around 155 days. In other words, about 5 months. So within a year of playing eRepublik you can have this situation where you have the maximum profit from training. To get everything at Q4 should be possible within 2 years.
In practice you’ll be able to be faster thanks to True Patriot medals, missions, and Battle Hero medals. And you can also use the income from working for your employer to speed up your training ground upgrades. At the moment you can get 18 NLG salary in eNL, which is slightly over 16 NLG net income. Expressed in gold that’s around 0.08 gold/day. But (as an example) in eChina you could get a 29 NLG net income, which is 0.145 gold/day.

For those, wanting more details than the previous article gave.
Upgrading your training rounds gives you a steady source of gold income on the long term, with up to 0.31 gold more profit for the case where you have upgraded the first two training grounds.
And of course, a higher strength will also earn you military successes.
Great work djirtsdew!
Prachtig nieuw artikel, chapeau!
calculator for training ground and contracts
http://tinyurl.com/nltrubn
(dunno who made it - i got it from Edelmann)
The calculator mentioned in the article also supports contracts, and all combinations of training grounds.
Whether you prefer that website, or the Google-doc you're mentioning is a matter of taste.
I think the sheet is better in the sense that it actually advises you to use a contract (if that is really better). On the other hand, the calculator mentioned in the article is clearer with regards to not using a training ground, and makes clearer that the Daily Tasks strength is also included in the calculations (and actually you can turn it off).
lets try it again:
Some people who want to invest in a small player to become an enourmous player?
At the moment I have q3 STR Building, i really want my q4 so condidates who want to help me:
Just send a message
1: Wait until the next discount. You waste a lot of gold by upgrading from Q3 to Q4 when there's no discount, an amount you won't get back from the extra super soldiers in the period until the next discount.
2: Save as much of your own money and gold as possible, so that you need to borrow as little as possible. (It will be easier to convince people)
3: Ask for a specific amount of gold, and give a time you need to be able to pay back the gold.
4: Make friends, most of us don't know you. The more you need to borrow the better they need to know you. I would be prepared to lend RL friends a lot more than someone I only know from this game, and I would be prepared to lend those more than a random citizen I'd hardly heard of before they said they wanted to borrow gold.
Finally, I'm assuming you bought gold, seeing you don't have any medals yet, while you already managed to obtain at least 38.5 gold for the upgrade from Q1 to Q3. The advantage is that you've managed to "skip" the first three months of your training ground upgrades.
Oh, and apparently, train every day. You're missing out on a lot of gold if you skip some days. Training is a lot more important than fighting. Skipping fighting is fine for beginning players.
In order to train, you don't need to be online a lot. Just one minute, and you already can train and work for your employer, and complete the daily tasks.
If you don't have an employer yet, you can use the "Job Market" to get one. (It's under the market tab in the top "menu" bar) It can earn you NLG, gold via Hard Worker medals, and a small amount of strength for completing the daily tasks.
A Polish employer would not be ideal, but apparently you're in Poland at the moment. Consider moving to China as suggested in the article. You can get slightly higher wages working there, and at least your income tax does not go to a hostile nation (which it will if you work in Poland).
About fighting:
1: Don't fight FOR Poland.
2: Preferably only fight if it allows you to complete your DO.
3: Fighting a few battles a day is a bad idea.
I will try to go into more details on this a few articles into the future.
But http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/2320335 should already clear this up a bit. You want to keep your experience low, and get your strength as high as possible. And you will basically get Battle Hero medals without any effort. On the other hand if you fight a lot, you'll be in division 2 in no time, and Battle Hero medals will remain very hard to get.
Oh, for reference, we're able to see how active you are on http://www.egov4you.info/citizen/history/8087934
I would prefer to see the orange (strength) line at 16 and 20 strength per day (thanks to the daily tasks you get 1 or 5 extra strength per day), and the XP per day below 10 (which basically means no fighting). You will get 3 or 7 XP per day for working for your employer and completing the daily tasks.
If you manage to get and keep your strength higher than your XP you are on the right track for a lot of Battle Hero medals.

excellent article. thank you very much for showing me the most profitable way to get stronger 🙂
Good article.
My Training calculator: http://goo.gl/9r9ulb
Your training calculator is protected. So I cannot see if it is more useful than the two mentioned above. 🙁
But typically, which training calculator you like most is a matter of taste, and progress. For me, I don't need one anymore. And before I was in this stage I used an Excel sheet. I guess for starting players the web page mentioned in the article is nicer because it adds the images, and does not require you to fill in that you're using a Q0 training ground if you do not use one.
I put it under protection for the moment, Try it now.
I added to it more options like: Daily bonus, extra medals etc ..
Good sheet, altho your formula in J55 is not correct.
Walhallah, It has been fixed 🙂 Try again if you want.
I have many calculators that i've built through Google Docs.
Excellent article djirtsdew 🙂
Great article

Awesome article Djirtsdew!
