Ahoy thar m'arties,

Now some of you may be wondering why in the last week our two training wars have turned into four.

Ye see, laddy, I be a Pirate Cat and there be gold upon the horizon. Y'aaaaargh.

And that's why.



This is just a brief update on the past week's military events. A broader update will be published later...would have been waaaay to long to cram it all in.




In brief we had been actively seeking a training war to make up for the loss of the Irish & Indonesian ones at the beginning of this event; seeing as everyone has turned into gold (y'argh) thirsty pirates during 'Hot Summer' this was a priority.

I became despondent after our letters to eHaiti and eAntarctica went unanswered but then, suddenly, a wild Dutch-Pole appeared and with him he bought hope “How would you guys like a sexy, sexy training war?”

The words 'sexy' and 'war' had me stripped down to nothing but a g-string and pirate hat before he could finish his sentence. We sank a few rums, compared cutlasses and shook hooks on the deal.

The cabinet had been discussing the best way to bring this to life but then, suddenly, a wild Ireland appeared. From being wiped Friday morning to liberated and NEing us in order to restart friendly hostilities come Saturday; we were now in a position to have two extra TWs and it just needed our nod to start immediately.

I may perhaps have rubbed a few people up the wrong way by not adhering to the usual rigmarole of going through congress, however there was an opportunity there and then, right in front of us, that the due process some of us have in our heads may have scuppered.

Besides, what's the point of having a CP unless they're willing to stick their necks out and make such decisions from time to time? I'm big enough and ugly enough to accept full responsibility if this somehow goes tits up....which can happen...





If you saw myself and Jiminy getting rather excitable on Thursday that would be because the Serbian attack rolled onto Northern Ireland. There was absolutely no malice in this and with their co-operation we managed to get things back on track. It could have presented us some headaches when we were so close to getting our ship in order.

I shan't bore you with all the details but there were a number of outcomes/scenarios and ways to resolve them. There was however also the consideration that six eUKers faced getting locked out of starting resistance wars for over a week if the South East of England RW was opened before we could then attack it.

This may seem a trivial point but these were players that have been regularly opening resistance wars on time for us and in this instance were following government orders, we had a responsibility to get them out of 'jail'.

By some miracle the opening of the RW was delayed until necessary and the eUK citizens must be commended for that, I'm honestly very grateful that players heeded the screams and cries not to open it.
We subsequently managed to attack SEoE, hand back the initiative and then RW SEoE, thus breaking our crew-mates out of the brig.

I'm loathe to single out players for attention when this was a team effort, however, once again praise must be heaped on JiminyChristmas. He sprang into life like a jack-in-the-box and immediately started alerting players to the situation which no doubt stopped the last two slots being filled.





Y'argh.

The number one reason we've opened additional training wars is to increase the amount of medals available to eUKers during the event. With both wars running daily there should be a minimum of 180 extra medals available on the eUK side alone!

When you consider we usually also have two RWs and two directs running every day there's roughly a minimum daily medal haul – again just on the eUK side – of 540. Each additional round brings in another 15 and then there are Resistance Hero, True Patriot and Freedom Fighter medals on top of that.

Even if you're missing out on the shiny, shiny hero medals all the girls go crazy about there are hundreds of additional medals and thousands of gold generated through the training wars.

You'd think everyone would be content...but no.








I have voiced my opinion on this subject earlier in the term. Seriously if you can't play nice I'll start taking your toys away.
