[C4] Why You Should Wait for the Training Ground Sale
Haselrig
Hello Cockers. I wanted to take a moment and touch on the importance of waiting for a sale to upgrade your Training Grounds. Although not on a clockwork schedule, Training Ground sales do appear somewhat regularly (I would say roughly every 4 to 6 weeks). You should always delay gratification and wait for these sales to upgrade your Training Grounds.
New players start with the Q1 Weights Room as their initial Training Grounds. Training here gives five strength daily at no cost and should be used every day. Upgrading the Weights Room should be the early focus of your gold spending with the long-term goal of upgrading it to the full four stars. Avoid spending gold on any of the higher level training grounds as the strength gained is not worth the gold spent.
- It costs twenty gold to upgrade your Weights Room at the regular price:
- At the discounted price, you only pay 11 gold for the same upgrade:
Strength is the most vital stat in eRepublik. More strength translates into more damage per hit and, consequently, more dominance on the battlefield. Higher strength players, particularly in the lower divisions, are a great asset to have for any MU or country where battles are won or lost with smaller margins compared to Divisions 3 and 4.
All that being said, upgrading your training grounds is also sound way to increase your income of gold. For every Super Soldier medal you earn (SS medals are achieved for every multiple of 250 strength you reach) you receive five gold. That’s a Super Soldier medal and 5 gold every 250 strength for the entirety of your eLife. In practical terms, if your first training grounds remains at Q1 you will gain 6.8 strength per day (average with daily bonuses), it will take you 36.77 days to gain a super soldier medal and your 5 gold. Your monthly income will be between 3 and 4.08G. By comparison, if you upgrade the first training grounds to Q2, your average daily gain will be 11.8 strength, it will take you between 21.19 and 25 days to gain the same medal. Your monthly income will be between 6 and 7.08 gold. As you can see, like any good investment, you lose some gold at the beginning but, in time, you will gain more than you initially invested.
With Training Grounds offering better returns on gold (with strength as a rather substantial byproduct) when compared to most companies and RM buildings, they are a sound, long-term, investment. While the higher Q training grounds are entirely impractical for many non-gold buying players, upgrading the Weights Room to the max should be among your first priorities as an eRepublik citizen.

The time is now, o7
Great
Thanks man.
All four training grounds can be used without gold buying, but it would take a very spartan elifestyle. It would give you a bit more than 90 strength a day though. I am content, for now, with my daily 30.
I'd say if you can foresee yourself being able to afford a training contract indefinitely then upgrading all four would be the right move. I think the majority of non-gold buying players would have to be very disciplined to manage it, although the newish Freedom Fighter medal can boost your gold income and may put you in a position to run all four on a contract while leaving some change in your pocket.
This is also a great tool:

The timing is probably not a coincidence 😉
i truly wouldnt doubt it lol. from a marketing point of view, it's a great way to get people to spend IRL cash
