Dish4CP - A Vision

Day 3,477, 19:47 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Dishmcds
Ladies and Gentleman;

As the results of the primary closed, most people know that I prefer a very open, and fair primary process. All manifestos were posted on the forum, and in my newspaper. They were sent via Private Message to every party member, and all candidates were allowed the same amount of time to submit any manifestos or statements that they desired. In game voting messages were posted, and an open tally was kept.

At the end of the vote, I was lucky enough to have won the primary nomination for the UKRP, and I will work as hard as I know how to try and earn a victory on June 5th. Should I be lucky enough to win on the 5th, I can vouch that I will work as hard for the people who voted for me, as those who vote against me. I believe in differing opinions, but I believe in attempting to find cohesion. There will be those who say that is not possible, and I will agree that there is a deep divide in the UK. I will say, however, that it is not going to stop me from trying. I refuse to simply give up on the eUK being capable of trying to build on our future.

I will say best of luck to any opponents. Here's a basic outline of what I'd like to do. Over the next few days I'll be releasing more detailed articles on the three main areas of focus.

1. Basic Functionality and Transparency

I believe, and have always run an open, functional government to anyone who is willing to put the work in, regardless of party affiliation or nationality. In past elections, in 7 terms as President, I have had 1 UKRP Vice President, 2 TUP Vice Presidents, and 2 PCP Vice Presidents. I have never shied away from someone who doesn't agree with me, and welcome their input. Governance is about being available to get the job done, here and now. I went on my hiatus for quite some time, but I am back and ready as ever to put the work in to try and improve the eUK. I will not be online to simply post an article, or disappear, and I will ensure that a representative of our Government is online, available via chat should it be needed.

To be effective, you have to be online, and here. You never know when a new citizen will be online, need advice, or direction. As the saying goes, you manage process and lead people, and to be an effective leadership you have to practice what you preach. One of the biggest hindrances to good government is "AFK Leadership".

2. K.I.S.S.

We need to ensure, at our core, that our basic functionality is all we're focusing on until those roles and processes are solidified. With a lower population and active playerbase, we need to work towards ensuring that we have, quite simply, a functional MoF (which Huey George has agreed to stay on in Cabinet), a functional Ministry of Defence (which is more than just articles and donations once every 2 days, and 1 "tedious" job needs broken into smaller, more functional parts), and a functional Foreign Affairs team that enjoys talking to people, and not being afraid to establish relationships outside of what we consider "the same old". We need to work with people with an open mind, a stable approach, but yet also the willingness to have some fun while we're at it, and that goes for the President, as well, as I would need to be as accountable to these principles, if not moreso, than anyone else. I'll outline the Ministries and plans in more detail later in the week.

It's time that we're staffed and active based on our merits and the effort that we put into the eUK, rather than simply our name and reputation. Even as a former President myself, what I have done before is nothing more than a baseline of what did, and didn't work. It's not necessarily about what I did then, it's about the effort I am going to put into it now.

3. Calculated fun, and Cohesion

There's a solid divide in the eUK, and we're all accountable to it. It's not "the other persons fault", but all of ours, and if we're ever going to be more successful than two halves of a country fighting over the same table scraps, we need to figure out that we all have different strengths and weaknesses. This is why my Governments are always open to any party.

We also need to figure out how to have some fun. I am not advocating anything except an open mind. I accept that we're in Orion, and I honor all our previous commitments, and will respect our allies. I do, however, think that we need to try and discuss the direction of our country, and what we want it to be. We can improve, we can move forward, and we can be our own country, and still do all the above. We can have some fun, we can do new things, and we can be relevant in the world, but it's never going to happen until we ditch the divide, and stop feeling sorry for ourselves.

I look forward to earning your vote, and only ask that you keep an open mind.

Regards,
