Day 3,285, 09:09 Published in Netherlands Netherlands by NoTie112

I have been elected Party President of Revolution and Libertas. After my absence the past time I'm happy to represent the party I have been member of ever since its existence. Although I don't plan to be as active as I once was (essentially running the eNetherlands 24/7) I felt called upon running for Party President after recent remarks about ReL in articles. Without smearing too much about the issue, ReL if seen as guilty for the current inactivity due to their stance against the forum-establishment. I was especially amused when one of our countrymen - asked by a new player what party he should join - suggested all parties, except for ReL. The #1 party nonetheless!

We in ReL have a rich history of ruffling feathers when needed and committing to our country when asked. I'd like to continue that policy once again by revitalizing the party. But besides the ambitions of whatever party, I have come to accept the fact that the eNetherlands is on a downward road - as is the rest of eRepublik. Major event that happened to us in the past - like defeating nations like Germany, Italy & Croatia and us aiding in other major wars in a meaningful ways - are sadly of the past.

That doesn't mean there is nothing to fight for any more. There are still meaningful assets in the eNetherlands that we are proud of. The people that have sticked around our country for years, for example. The new citizens that still join our country - despite the status of eRepublik in 2016. Stable and strong institutions like DAF and our governments (I dare to say that no other country has such a fleshed out financial system as we do).

However, we in ReL do too have a past of being critical of the excesses of the system. Ever since the implementation of the Dictatorship and the lack of activity the political field in the eNetherlands has become a sham of its former self. A facade that only serves those who happen to 'know' how it works simply by the fact they have been around for so long and/or occupy administrative functions. With this massive disparity between the few citizens that are left and the political field, we see ourselves stagnating. Let me give you an example: Since August the only political discussions (except for 1 or 2 exceptions) held are mere 'elections' for administrative posts on the forum that have no power in-game. Even worse, most of these elections require multiple rounds because the massive disinterest in such shows are causing failing quorums.

Just because we are on a low point already, doesn't mean we have to throw our arms in the air and let the carriage crash even further down. Revolution and Libertas looks forward to press such issues forward more actively and hopes to re-engage the society once again in what the fate of our country should be. We are looking forward to work with you!

Kind regards,

NoTie112,
Party President of Revolution and Libertas.
