[TB4CP] Old School Butter

Kicking it Old School

For some time now here in the eUSA there has been a not so quiet discussion/struggle. Those who crave change versus those who feel the traditions we have established and a time tested mode of operation serve us best. Should the old give way to make room for the new? To an extent yes. Most of my eRepublik career I have stepped in when I saw a need and then when possible stepped aside. I utilized my time at the helm to help other players gain experience and prove themselves so they  could move up to bigger tasks. Anyone who has ever served under me knows I give them an outline of what I want but then allow them to use their talents and abilities to accomplish the task their way. When they succeed I sing their praises when they do not I take the blame. That has always been my mode of leadership. It always will be.

Once Upon a Time opportunities to showcase talents and abilities were everywhere.

However, I believe we have too easily let go of time honored traditions that add flavor and fun to this game. Roughly 4 years ago I ran for Party President of the Federalists. I campaigned on Butter for All. All these years later I am still closely associated with butter. I saw even then that the Federalist Party was less for letting go of the aforementioned traditions: FedRadio, Fed game night, Fed Awards and more. So I campaigned on restoring those programs and shortly after winning the Party Presidency created the Fun Zone on the Fed Forums to host the various venues of butter. My next stint as Party President I took what I learned working as Secretary of Homeland Security and incorporated it into running the Party: Message relentlessly and reward positive activity. It worked. It worked at the Party level, MU level, and the National level.

Old School Fun and Games were enjoyed by many

I know I am very much in the minority but I still believe the Old School approach works. I believe that relentless messaging, positive reinforcement, quality article writing, and quality games are proven effective tools in engaging the community. For a while most of our national programs were shelved due to lack of interest. No one wanted to get free gold, free food, or free weapons. Why? Do we suddenly not need gold for training ground upgrades as new players? No training ground upgrades are still very much a thing. Do these players not need food or weapons? No they are still very much a necessity especially for new players. I believe interest can be revived with the right approach. I intend to borrow heavily from the current Fed Method of publishing articles, shouting, and messaging frequently to stir interest along with allowing creative players to create games, contests, and events that will draw attention. Old School we built it and the players came. If we build it again they will come.

Butter tastes so good when it hits your lips!

In regards to Foreign Affairs I am still very much in favor of an Old School approach. Countries like Romania, Argentina, Greece, Slovenia, and Poland have proven to be strong allies that reciprocate the eUSA going out on a limb for them. No Ally is perfect because they like the eUSA look after their own national interests first, but they over time have proven remarkably keen at keeping our interests aligned. In recent months I have noticed with no small amount of misgivings that the eUSA appears to be drifting away from tried and true allies. I see no tangible tradeoff for this isolation and I suspect that if this trend continues a wipe will be forthcoming. As President I intend to reaffirm our time tested bond with friendly nations we appear to have neglected our bonds with.

There you have it: my vision for some Old School Butter and Foreign Affairs combined with the Old School method of allowing players to prove themselves in their pursuit of advancement and growth in the eUSA community. This is why I am running for President of the eUSA yes I want to provide a choice, but I also want to provide a direction for the future help revitlise our community and prep players for future choices in future elections while securing our place in the eWorld. That is why I am asking for your vote.
